This just means Larry and Donnie need to step up to the plate and get us T-Mac for peanuts too.

Want to know something even more ironic?

Malone and Payton will be playing for the coach of the Bulls teams that denied their dreams in the '90s.

For the third straight year, Rick Carlisle has been knocked out of the playoffs by the team that finished one spot behind him in the conference standings.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

On a technicality - you were two spots behind us.

Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

Notice I said "record" not "seed."

and I'd refer to seeding as a technicality instead of conference standing, wouldnt you?

Eh, i have no animocity. Tins and JO hurt your chances, and not having chauncey last year's ECF, as well as having Ben on one leg KILLED ours. Injuries are a part of the game, not a freak occurance. I had to deal with that cold truth last year, as well as half of the ECF THIS year with Rasheed Wallace.

Tinsley looked awful, but I thought JO looked pretty good. He certainly didnt have problems sinking free throws or 25-foot jumpers.

In any case, feel free to curse under your breath over it, I know I certainly was last year at this time.

Just adding to a thread about irony, thats all.

The Wilt Chamberlain trade in 1968

The Kareem trade to LA in 76

Bob Macadoo for Robert Parish AND Kevin McHale in 1980

Mosas Malone signing with Philly in 1983

The Bill Walton trade in 1985

Dennis Rodman for Will Perdue in 1995

Kobe Bryant for Vlade Divac in 1996

Oh no, championship teams have NEVER made horribly lopsided transactions before.......

How is that ironic? Isn't the ultimate goal of EVERY team to win a championship?

Um, irony is an outcome of events contrary to what was expected. Or anything really that is the direct opposite of what was intended.

    Of course, it's sad, too.

Yes, Bulletproof's statement is irony. Shade's original statement had nothing to do with irony.

Now BP, you can't possibly stay that bitter all summer can you?

Even if we lose, It really won't matter to me. Winning the conference is PLENTY to keep me happy for the summer

Our goal was to reach all the finals. What happens after that is gravy.

Bitter? No. Mildly disappointed the ride is over? Yeah. It was a fun season. But I'm already over it and looking forward to what the off-season will bring, if anything.

Now, it would be supremely ironic if the Lakers lost the championship after the off-season moves they made coupled with their arrogant "just give us the rings now" attitude.

Isn't it ironic that Alanais Morrisette's song has so many people confused about what is truly ironic (don'tcha think)?
