Of course. I knew it was too good to be true. This has become a complete joke.

I hope he plays in the playoffs, and I'll be done with this.

    What do you think happened?

Think he is still OK and they are just being cautious?

Think the back to back practices caused some swelling?

I'm so tired of getting emotionally invested in this week after week.

Yeah, it's getting to the point where we might need to start worrying about him playing ever again, instead of worrying about him coming back this season.

Adam and I have been calling it all along. Marvin "playing" is nothing more than an attempt to get some team to take the bait and game plan for him. Sad to say it, but Marvin's probably not going to wear a Colt uni ever again IMO.

It says he's expected to play in two weeks and they had to choose between working him out before the game or playing him and opted to work him out. Seems straight forward to me.

Yeah - except for earlier today they said they were going to work him out before the game, and if everything went fine he'd play. That was what they said at Noon during the early pre-game show. I forget who said it but they went into quite a bit of detail - said he'd been through 2 practices and yesterday's walk through and it was likely he'd play.

Doesn't really matter. Even if he does come back he'll have to be a 3rd or 4th option at this point. Maybe by the SB, if you get there, he could play a larger role.

Yeah, seems pretty straight forward...except for the fact that they told us all week that he would play only to pull him at the last minute.

"He'll start the game, and we'll see how it goes" -Dungy earlier in the week.

Indy has called it all year. At first I held out hope, but after the same story week after week I changed my tune. I can't believe I was naive enough to believe this earlier in the week. I should have known better after following this injury every week. I don't care if Dungy tells us every day before the playoff game that Harrison will play. I will only view it as a tactic to screw with the other coaches. Until I see Harrison comes out in a jersey and plays a down, I am going to think of him as being done for the year. And I don't care what the Colts say.

This is what will happen. They will tell us that if he gets good practices in that he will play. Then on Thursday when he practices, they'll say that if he has a good practice Friday that he will play. Then when he practices Friday, they'll tell us Saturday that he will play. Then Sunday at the last minute they will pull him and say something along the lines of: "we have to think of Marvin's future and we can't risk his future for one game"

I would bet money that this is what happened.

The playoffs always seem like a lot longer off than they actually are. It's easy to say that a guy will be ready for the playoffs when it's November. But the playoffs sneak up on you, and the injury may not have healed as fast as you thought it did. This is what I think has happened.

If this was the first time this had happened... or if the story hadn't changed... then I might be inclined to agree with you. But the story variations change each week but the end result doesn't: Marvin doesn't play.

I think it's foolish to continue to disregard ESPN's earlier report about Marvin's situation in its entirety. It's beginning to smell more accurate than not. Maybe it wasn't 100% accurate, but it might've been onto something. The question may be: How much pain does Marvin have to tolerate to play football and what is the recovery period after practicing/playing?

We also have to remember, while keeping that ESPN report in mind, Marvin has played thru injuries before. So this one is obviously 'different'.

He ruptured his bursa-sac which is no mere knee sprain. IMO, he'll probably need surgery at some point during the offseason but the team is holding out hope that rest and therapy will help him enough to get to about 85% healthy.

Even at 85% he'd be as good as Gonzo and the defense would have to focus on him. Even if he plays I'm not sure he'll be 100% effective and to hope for that at this point would be unreasonable.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

No biggie. It's not as if Harrison ever torches teams in the playoffs anyway. Just hope that he can be a decoy as always while Manning finds other players to run the offense through. Harrison didn't do anything major last year and we won the Super Bowl.

Harrison only has 2, yes 2 touchdowns in his entire postseason career, both in the same game (one of them was only because the stupid Bronco defenders forgot to touch him when he was down). Wayne has 6

Question to my fellow Colts fans: Why are Harrison's post season numbers so mediocre? I don't completely buy the theory of teams finding strategies to take him out of games in the playoffs. Because that's like saying that the teams are pefectly content with him torching him in the regular season but come playoff time they want to shut him out of the game.

Harrison absolutely crapped on the Patriots in 05 and 06 regular season games in Foxboro. But New England didn't allow him to do much in the AFCCG last year. Now we all know Belichick hates to lose any game. There is no way that Belichick would allow Harrison to light his team up in the regular season and only worry about shutting Harrison down in the playoffs. No NFL coach ever wants to get torched by a player, regardless of what time of year.

There has to be something more to explain Harrison's mediocre postseason numbers. One theory I've seen float around on the Star board is that Harrison isn't as physical as a Moss, TO, or Wayne, and come playoff time the games get more physical. Manning just seems to favor Wayne more come playoff time.

Am I the only one who this doesn't bother at all? We watched Bob Sanders go through nearly the same motions last year. And then the playoffs came, and so did Bob. This team has a history of being ridiculously cautious.

Even if Harrison couldn't go in the playoffs, I'm still pretty confident this team could win at least a game, if not more.

Yeah, and Bball I just find it tough for me to believe ESPN "COLTS PIPED IN CROWD NOISE." Report. Can't really take them serious.

I'm going to say I think we have a good chance Marvin plays in the playoffs, but then again we don't really know. Hopefully he can come back.

What happened with Sanders is completely irrelevant to Harrison. Harrison's injury is unique only to Harrison. Each player's body is different. Not to mention that Sanders was 25 last year and Harrison is 35 now. Age has to play a factor into how something heals.

All we need Harrison for is a decoy anyway. He's never been that spectacular in the postseason.

Man, what happened? I was at the game, and seeing #80 and not #88 was a major letdown.

Either way, I think we see him for the playoffs. Though at this point I haven't read any new reports on him... anyone got the scoop? (And none of this 'he's done forever' stuff.)

Maybe not this week. This week I think they may have thought he would truely play, which was a mistake, but my point is basically thats all I see as Marvin's role from here on out.

If Peyton and the rest of the starters had played the first half and maybe a possession in the 3rd last night, then I would be doubting Marvin's return. Last night showed that they were in long enough to keep Peyton's start and 4K Yards streak going as well as get Reggie over 100 catches. There would have been little or no benefit in trotting out Marvin what 2 or 3 possessions.

Uh, then why did Dungy say he was going to play? It's not as if the Colts all the sudden figured out it was a meaningless game only minutes before the game when they decided he wouldn't play.
