A new Evie is like switching Scully to Tea Leoni and Mulder to Garry Shandling.

I've not been to Cleveland's stadium, but if you are talking about the Indianapolis Indians, then NO. Wrigley is the ultimate place to watch a game. It is old school and a little grimy. It is the essence of where baseball came from. I wouldn't mind seeing a game in one of the new palatial stadiums too, but Wrigley is the best!
Indianapolis Indians - Not Cleveland - Busch Stadium. Scenes from There's no crying in baseball movie - tom hanks - women players - was shot there.

Anybody been to both and can compare?

I look on those movies as examplary of my worst parenting moment...so far. The oldest girl came home from school with "The Egyptian Dead Fellow" and another girl (then 10 years or so) wanted to watch it. I said OK, despite the fact that I hadn't previewed it. She was completely terrified of the scenes in which Imhotep draws the moisture from his victims. She didn't sleep for weeks after. To this day, she doesn't like listening to the Mandy Moore CD she got for Christmas that year and still associates with the feelings she was feeling then. Bad dad!
Tell her to rub some dirt on it.

36714 The new Evie was selected for this movie because Racheal just had a baby and didn't want to bring the new baby to China where they did a majority of their filming on this movie. It was in this sunday's paper.
I imagine it has more to do with the fact her career has eclipsed the "YAY! They offered me a role in a Mummy movie" level.

He also likes to "nod his head in disgust." Which is awfully confusing.

Heywoode, did ya never see a game at Indy's old stadium? iPacer was probably commenting on the old ballpark, not Victory Field.
It had the same feel as Wrigley. Ivy. Pitchers' practice areas right along the baselines. Werlitzer organ playing "TMOTTBG." The works.

    EDIT:
Wrigley Field is better. Still I enjoyed each of the ballparks. I like Boston.

I've been to Fenway but not Wrigley. Kind of weird for a Hoosier, eh?

Fenway is a great park and atmosphere. Sox were playing the Orioles but there was a lot of anti-yankee stuff - shirts, chants, etc.

OK, OK, I'm not really sure who Harden is...probably not Al Harden...and I've never been to that stadium. But everything else, I'm with IC 100 percent.

The Yankees of the mid 90s got me into baseball. Then I realized it wasn't fair what Steinbrenner was doing - buying the World Series - so I switched to being an anti-Yankees fan and started following the regional team - the Reds (I was in Lexington KY).

Yes, it is. We try not to let that fact constrain the appreciation we lavish on the sport, however. I may never attend another basball game, and a certainly won't ever watch another game on TV. Still, I'm happy the game exists.

36741 I've been to cleavland's stadium, it's a nice place to see a game. Although it probably helped that I was sitting in the row behind the dugout.

I liked the old Busch and I haven't seen a game in two years. So that means I have not seen the new stadium.

Can't argue with that. GABP is much better. Wasn't Riverfront a lot like the old Cards Busch stadium though? (Strucuturally)

Isn't that the problem? Excepting Fenway and Wrigley, every big-town ball park in America is "a lot like" every other one.

I guess you're right... they're similar but have some things that set them apart....

I'd say the newer parks are nicer than the older ones.

As for GABP, I'd make it less of a hitters park by lengthening the outfields, but one can't do that unless you rebuild the stadium or raise the fences...

    "Nice" is for chicks.

Beer soaked floors, uncomfortable chairs that face the wrong direction and obstructed views are for men.

I would agree if Fenway wasn't in the biggest cockfuck town of them all...

    Like my ellipses?

I went to Busch Stadium in Indy to watch the Indians once as a kid. It was cool, but I wasn't paying much attention to detail then. The guy who took me and some friends barehanded a line drive foul ball right above my head and gave me the ball. We were sitting in Row 2 down the third base line, about even with third base. His hand was still red when we got back home.

Oh, and that's why we call him GayFedd.

There's no "s" in the name of the old ball park in Indy. The one in St. L is named for the beer company and has an "s" in the middle of it. The one on Indy was named for a player named Donie B_sh.

This is not important or even interesting. It comes at the end of the page, so nobody will see it.
