    You don't have to say my face in that context. Only JR and woode assume something else when someone says they have to shave.

    That depends on what he means by "face."
    "They could turn out to be only innocent mathematicians, I suppose," muttered Woevre's section officer, de Decker.

    "'Only.'" Woevre was amused. "Someday you'll explain to me how that's possible. Seeing that, on the face of it, all mathematics leads, doesn't it, sooner or later, to some kind of human suffering."

    Because The Mummy Returns left so much to be desired...

    On another note, has anyone seen The Happening or The Ruins?

    Did it? I liked it a lot.

    I look on those movies as examplary of my worst parenting moment...so far. The oldest girl came home from school with "The Egyptian Dead Fellow" and another girl (then 10 years or so) wanted to watch it. I said OK, despite the fact that I hadn't previewed it. She was completely terrified of the scenes in which Imhotep draws the moisture from his victims. She didn't sleep for weeks after. To this day, she doesn't like listening to the Mandy Moore CD she got for Christmas that year and still associates with the feelings she was feeling then. Bad dad!

    I thought the second Mummy movie was pretty lame. This new one looks okay, but will probably blow also. Especially since Brendan Fraser is going for complete media saturation with the Journey to the Center of the Earth movie out also.

    I thought the second Mummy movie was pretty lame.

    How come?

    Rick = same as in the first movie
    Ardeth Bey = same
    Evie = same
    Jonathan= same
    Imhotep = same
    Anak Sa Namon = same
    additional baddie > better than the first movie
    comic baddie < not as good as Beni
    Alex < no kid
    Izzie > Winston
    monkeys > scarabs
    CG battle scenes = same

    So the lame part has to come down to The Rock as a scorpion. Is that it?

    The first was better. Still I enjoyed each of the movies. I like Brandon Fraser.

    Thanks for that clear and incisive assessment of the relative merits and characteristics of the two movies. Are ya certain that the real Arcadian posted that? Looks to me like "Kemo" has taken over Arcadian's identity. Except that Kemo says "lol" once in every line of text, separates his rambling notions with ellispes....and capitalizes words FOR NO APPARENT reason.

    I was keeping it simple maybe real as well.

    I smiled when I saw the mentioned poster was cited and told "well said."

    One might agree the the sentiment, however; it was far from being well said.

    36700.

    I just thought the second Mummy movie was a little hokey compare to the first one. The characters can't be described as the same because they still have to deliver dialog that may/may not be of the same quality as in the first movie. The character interaction in the first one was entertaining because they were new characters. A lot of the time, when you take proven characters and expound on them, the interaction seems strained, like the producers/writers are trying to stretch that success from the first one through a second one and had about half a good movie that could've either lengthened the first one, or made a semi-good second one.

    I liked the movie just fine, but still found it not as good as the first one. I like all the characters, and the actors who portray them. I'll watch the third one, albeit on DVD, and I'm interested to see how the new Evie will play out. Rachel Weisz apparently isn't in the new one?

    Is that good enough for you, Putty?!

    Oh, and thanks for the dime, Raskol! CENTAVO FOR ME! LOL!
