Default coubtdown to game #5

time to rank the nerves again, jitters in check, tickets in an obvious place, carkeys not to far off, money at the ready, check.

Now the important things, hot water to get the voice going, thundersticks, retro shirts, flags, towels, and of course "the sign".

What a preparation.... keeps you so busy there's not time to get nervous,. then us poor stay at homers......

PC working, sound on, tap tap tap tap tap tap tap

Oh yes, it's currently 9AM Indiana time and I haven't slept in 24 hours. I doubt I'll sleep today, the excitement is already building. I drove up to West Lafayette to visit a friend immediately following Game 4, arriving just in time to actually watch the ESPN rebroadcast of the game. I hadn't seen a Pacers game since Game 4 versus Boston on April 25th. Tonight, courtesy of the greatest friend on Earth (she says I'll owe her), I will watch Game 5. We're 10 hours away from tipoff. I think I speak for everyone when I say...

START THE GAME ALREADY!!!!
Take me out to the black, tell 'em I ain't coming back. Burn the land and boil the sea, you can't take the sky from me.

We're down to about 8 hours.

I'm not a big Indy 500 fan. I've been to Indianapolis about five summers in a row for a weekend. I love the ballpark and love the zoo and the downtown. We think it's vastly underrated. But one thing I've never done is even think about finding the speedway believe it or not. Oh, I've also never been in the NCAA Hall of Fame. Is the Hall of Fame worth it? Can you even get to the speedway when there are no races that week?

One more thing I love about the city. I love how the expressways circle the city. If you can't get somewhere using maps of the city, just go around it until you find an exit close to your area. That was some pretty smart planning by someone.

P.S. Any minor league fans here - if so GO MUDHENS! Beat Indy!

With the weather, the track is pretty much done for the day.

They'll get to Conseco, dry off and enjoy the W.

Man, with the crappy weather, flooding, and funnel clouds I had to drive through in NW Indiana earlier this afternoon...

LET'S GET THIS GAME STARTED!!

(and let's get the race finished, I don't really want to deal with that traffic tomorrow morning.)
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

146 minutes. I'm gonna take a shower, go to the store and pick up some beer, then sit in front of the TV and look for my wife and baby at the game.

I'm stuck in LA.

Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.
