I'll try to grab it. I should be able to. A friendly bump to this thread Monday afternoon would help.

What time will the show air? Will it be on radio or TV? If radio, what station and can I catch it online?

(Sorry for the 20 ?'s, but I don't live in the local Indy area despite the handle. )

    All,

Correction on the time for the JOB radio show this PM. As Monday at 7:00 is reserved for some other programming commitment (not sure what), JOB is on from 8:00 until 9:00 tonight.

Those out of range of WIBC should be able to pick it up at wibc.com.

Hmmm...JO experiencing swelling in his leg (left?) from being kicked in the calve..would explain why he's having problems running the floor or getting lift when he tries to jump. Hope the problem goes away by tomorrow. I'd like to see him make Bynum really work.

I'd like to know when Graham will get some playing time? So, if anyone cares to put the question to JOB...much appreciated in advance.

EDIT: I'm surprised I actually got through with my question on Graham! Unfortunately, I don't think Graham's going to see much playing time other than garbage minutes or should one of the SG's get injured. I like this guy's durability and the fact that he can handle the basketball fairly well.

    Interesting...

JO is the only player on the team who gets a pass from running the floor continually.

When you think about it it does explain why we don't see him getting down court as quickly as the other players. Plus, he is the highest tenured player on the team w/11 yrs (in the NBA; Foster comes 2nd @ 8 yrs). Frankly, I've never been as hard about Centers/PFs getting back on defense or running the floor as I am about Guards/SFs. They're your "horsemen" anyway. On the other hand, if Foster and Harrison as big as they are can getty-up, why not JO? (...playing Devil's Advocate on the latter there, folks.)

I don't think I'll ever play for the Pacers.

Supposedly somebody in the front office thinks I have an attitude problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if the refs give Kobe the standard All-Star treatment when it comes to drawing fouls. I can see Graham playing 10+ minutes in tomorrow's game. Granger, Shawne, Dunleavy and Marquis will probably get 5 fouls a piece just by guarding Kobe by the 3rd QTR alone.

Yep. O'Brien is a straight shooter. He recognizes that Jermaine can't keep up on fast breaks. That creates the choice of slowing down to keep Jermaine in the offense or else letting Jermaine lag behind a fast break. O'Brien has made the latter choice.

Jermaine wins himself a blow, if he needs one, by snaring a rebound and making a good outlet pass.

I hope the part I've put in bold is more due to O'Neal coming back from injury/surgery rather than to simply catering to his whims. We heard in previous years about Carlisle not treating players equally, and the problems it created. I hope this is not the case now.

In all honesty, if you had to choose only one end of the floor for Jermaine to play on, which would you pick?

I think he's far more valuable defensively. I'd much rather have him lagging behind on the breaks and getting back on defense than trying to sprint and then getting caught in the middle and doing no good at all.

O'Brien said that Jermaine should run as much as he can. I think it was implicit that Jermaine should run even when he is tired. But, on plays where Jermaine gets a rebound and makes a good outlet pass (launching a fast break with a 2-on-1 or a 3-on-2), then Jermaine may lag behind the ball on that play and catch his breath.

I don't get the idea that it's preferential treatment. On the program, O'Brien refers to it as the "Bill Russell rule." Big guys usually can't run as well as smaller players, and this creates a practical question on every fast break: does the ball go forward as fast as the fastest one or two players, or does it go forward only as fast as the slowest player on your team? If the answer is the latter, you don't really have a commitment to the fast break. O'Brien does have a commitment to running the fast break, so he is unwilling to slow the ball down just so Jermaine can get a touch.

This is good coaching. He turns a player's weakness into a team strength, and meets both needs without compromising either. And as mellifluous says, the decision plays to Jermaine's strengths.

(Obviously, this question applies only to occasions where a fast transition is possible. Jermaine is going to be involved on offense on the majority of plays when he is on the floor. O'Brien did not suggest Jermains can fall behind when Foster gets the rebound or after the other team scores.)
