Default Top ten unsigned free agents

Interesting, DD is one of the 10 I hadn't heard this blurb on him, although I could have missed it over the Summer. Sounds like he's completely fine though.

    6. Dale Davis

    Status: Unrestricted free agent (Pistons)
The wily veteran spent the last two seasons in Detroit, which makes him an expert on the inner workings of the Pistons' locker room. That factor, as much as any, is one of the reasons why the rival Cleveland Cavaliers have been tossing around the idea of signing the 38-year-old -- especially if the Varejao situation remains unresolved.

Davis, who had a blood clot removed from his lung in July, had expected to join Seattle over the summer before the Sonics made the Kurt Thomas deal.

Never heard about that either. Sounds terrible but if it can be assumed that he is willing to play again from this article, it looks like he is okay.

DD is one of my favorites of all time. Physical, great rebounder and defender, good shot blocker.

When you think about it Ben Wallace doesn't have much more in his arsenal than DD had during his prime, but Big Ben gets much more media attention (and a bigger salary)

On the off chance that DD ever reads this site, Pacers nation is glad that you made it through the operation okay and we thank you for your years of service!

I wonder what we could have signed DD for vs Sims.... we all know he could play D and rebound. I heard he was good for the locker room also.

As much as I loved Dale when he played here and I hope that his health is okay, I think he is totally washed up as a basketball player.

The last time I saw him play he couldn't jump over a telephone book or run up and down the floor that well.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

Why haven't we looked into signing Chris Webber?

Offensively he could still offer a lot and he's a great passer and rebounder. If Troy or Ike continue to struggle with their leg injuries, he'd be a good pick-up.

Not to mention bigger hair. Big hair=media attention.

DD would come at the vet minimum, but I agree he's washed up.

I couldn't see Webber taking anything less then the full MLE, and he'd want a shot at a ring. It seems like you'd hear his name mentioned with the Celtics, although they wouldn't pay anything more then the minimum.

    Something I don't get...

Earl Boykins has proved that he can produce. Although as noted he is a bit of a ball hog it's not like he is a minority there. Keith McLeod, I thought atleast, would be a great guy for Boston to have but they opted for Eddie House as their backup point guard.

It will be interesting to see if Chris Anderson gets any interest.

i thought keith was playing overseas??

boykins is also a lockerroom problem, a napoleon complex of sorts i imagine. when you combine that with his lack of defense, and the $$$ he's demanding... honestly i thought he'd probably end up in Sacto by now with bibby out.
    This is the darkest timeline.

I think C-Webb would take the minimum. He shouldn't have a problem with it considering that he's still getting paid like 15 million from the Sixers in that buy-out agreement from last year.

Looking back at that dunk contest fiasco I realize that there's a 100% chance that the "Birdman" was too high to dunk. How ironic.
