FYI, Amir Johnson is only 20 years old. When it's his time to step in, McDyess will be done and Sheed will be in his twilight.

Rodman and Salley were both power forwards and we made that work. I don't see why we just can't start Amir and keep Maxiell as a 6th man.

BTW, I've been to 17 Pistons games this year, and we've won 16 of them.

I can't think of a better going-away present for me. I always wished the Pistons would get on a roll like this at home.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

In the words of Marlo Stanfield, "Sounds like one of them good problems."

Houston is only 2 quarters away from taking over the top seed in the west. Unbelievable.

Why would they trade their young stud for more youth? You trade your old pieces for that.
well it depends whether you're like JayRedd and think he's about to Boozer or if you think his ceiling isn't too far off where he is at right now. also depends how they fair in the playoffs this year. a pistons-fan friend initially floated a maxiell trade by me and while i was skeptical at first i could see why the pistons might do it.

right now for the frontline you've got amir (really don't see him as a 3), rasheed, mcdyess and then depending on what they want to do with hermann this offseason he can play the 4 as well. they've got samb at C but he's quite a ways off and the pistons seem to want ratliff back next season despite his original plan to retire. given maxiell is shorter than tayshaun and doesn't seem capable of learning the SF spot they might look at getting a bigger frontline prospect at 15 (kevin love would be available in theory). i'd say they might also look for a more defensive focused backup for tayshaun to handle the bigger 3s that tend to push him around.

like i said, could be a direction they decide to go. or maybe they shop dyess instead -- kinda doubt it though.

very well could -- which was my argument originally but i was much higher on maxiell than he was/is. i guess it depends where dumars sees maxiell's ceiling and what value could be had.

Celts/Spurs is getting really good in the 2nd Quarter. Frenchy and Manu are going at ET, Rondo and KG pretty hard. Cassell has made two ridiculous jumpers in the last three minutes.

Chris Paul with another 37/13 night.

Really, he's worth the price of league PASS by himself.

    Indeed.

I'm not sure I would have been able to survive this season if it wasn't for New Orleans.

But now that that's over, you should be watching this Finals preview. Playoff intensity since the 2nd Quarter.

Is Detroit makes it to the ECF, they really should save themselves the embarrassment and just concede to Boston. If the Celtics are too much for San Antonio to handle, the Pistons have 0 chance.

I once thought they had a very slim chance of pulling off the huge upset, but with the Cassell signing neutralizing the one major advantage Detroit had (PG), that's been thrown out the window.

Duly noted. I'm shaking in terror as I type.

I'd also note that the Pistons also were too much for the Spurs this year, but that would just make too much sense...

You're also 2-1 vs Boston, with that sole victory being a fluke 2 point win back in December.

"Mr. Bigger Shot" Sam Cassell says hi.

Uh huh. Our win against Boston was a fluke, but Glenn Davis Channeling Shaquille O'Neal in the Palace was perfectly normal

I also must have missed the memo that Sam Cassell is a better player than Chauncey Billups. Thanks for handing it to me. I'll be sure it reaches the right people.

Any more left in the bag, or is that it for tonight?

I really enjoyed the Celtics vs Spurs - after watching the Knicks - Pacers it was refreshing to see a real NBA game.

I've never been a Celtics fan, but they are fun to watch - I love watching their defense

The Rockets 22 game winning streak is about to end. Boston proving they're the team to beat, bar none.

Celtics are really good. If you watch their defense - that is what O'Brien is trying to do with the Pacers.

I wouldn't want to be a Rockets fan over the next several games - as I see them losing 6 out of 7 or something to that effect.

Not sure why but I thought the second half of the Spurs vs Celts the night before was a better game than Rockets vs Celts from last night

Probably because the Spurs are just an overall better team than the Rockets.

True - plus if you look back at past streaks of anything more than lets say 13 games, there is always a letdown (law of averages) after the streak is over. But without Yao, I see Rockets as the 7th or 8th best team in the west. Although with their excellent defense they are almost always in every game

That's all about having the right personnel. It's not as if Doc Rivers was known as some defensive guru/motivator before this season.

Paul Pierce has been an underrated defender early on in his career, and with less of an offensive load to carry, he's able to expend more energy defensively. Other than the times he gets pushed around by a bigger/stronger PG, Rondo is a ballhawk who can make the opposing team work just to bring the ball up teh floor.

Then of course, you've got KG to anchor everything and really, he's a superstar who's always had defense as his calling card more than anything else. When you have a superstar who emphasizes defense over everything else (and is really good at it himself), then other guys feel the pressure to step up their own defense because they don't want to embarass themselves in front of him.
