Yao Ming is starting to remind me of Kareem. Really tall, but dominates with a finesse shot that's virtually unblockable.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Never count a team like the Lakers out, not while they have Andrew Bynum on their roster.

Heck, Bynum and Kobe combined for 27 free throw attempts. That's insane.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

    That's great, Anthem.

Not that it means anything, but an interesting note on our Pacers; the Spurs have the current record for consecutive opening night wins with 11, the Pacers are 3rd with 5.

    I hear you.

I watch very little baseball but I tend to watch enough just to know who wins (in the playoffs). I watch a little more of the NFL, but again, I'm mainly just seeing who wins - even Colts games I can't make it through a whole game.

But the NBA, I can just sit there and watch for hours and hours - even if I don't have a rooting interest - I can still just watch and watch and rarely if ever get bored. Often I don't care who wins, but I just love to watch the games. And it doesn't matter who is playing - the Hawks vs the Clippers is interesting enough for me to watch the whole game

Well, I'm glad I stayed up until 1:30 to see the Jack-less Warriors get trounced on opening night. If they win 2 games of the next 6, they should be thrilled, after what they showed last night.

as you know I'm not much of a Warriors fan or Nelson fan, but Utah typically starts the season very strong - so I wouldn't read too much into the trouncing last night. From what I saw, and I only saw the first half, the Warriors just don't have the firepower they did last year in the playoffs.

Utah in the past has always started strong. Even the years when they went lotto. I think Sloan's style is so physically demanding (lots of fouling) that it's worn down on their players as the season progresses.

But I think last year they had more depth than in the past, and with Boozer healthy and Deron really improving, they were able to sustain their level of play through most of the season and then into the playoffs.

The Warriors are a better team than the one that STARTED last season, but they also aren't as good as the one that FINISHED the season. They're sort of in another transition period right now, and Nellie has said himself that he's just not sure what kind of team he has on his hands. He says they're too young to be able to judge right off the bat.

Baron's health status aside, I think the bigges factor in GS making a marked improvement as a team is Andris Biedrins. If he can play as well as he showed at times last year consistently throughout the year for 27 mpg, then they will be a lot better. You know what you're getting with Monta, Jack, Baron (if healthy), and Barnes. But if Biedrins can make a big leap forward they have a chance to be relevant. Al playing better will help too.

I do expect a good season out of Biedrins, tho he really laid an egg last night and Boozer (who is an absolute beast) just ate him up. BTW, worth noting that the Warriors are holding off on giving him an extension. Reports are that the two sides for $10M apart. He may have been demanding $60M over 5 years with the Warriors offering $50. In any case, he's not a $60M player (at least not yet) and the Warriors were wise to say "prove it to us" to a player who's really only had 1 good season so far. Ultimately, I expect him to be re-signed next summer. He's a good young player. This is his 4th year in the league but he's still only 21, so he still has a lot to work on.

Harrington looks like a better player than most of last year. Looks like he's putting a better effort into rebounding the ball, but ultimately I don't think he's a Nellie guy, for various reasons. He's putting effort and showed up lighter just like Nellie told him to, but there are certain little things that Nellie was hoping he'd do better that he just doesn't do that well.

SAS and Walton in the studio is as bad as I figured.

What was the trade that almost went down involving Kobe. Artest ends up in LA

Agreed. ESPN somehow managed to put three of its most obnoxious "personalities" in the same room. I can barely stand it.

    The trade discussed was:

    Chicago gets: Kobe
Sacramento gets: Ben Gordon, PJ Brown
LA gets: Ron Artest, Ben Wallace
WE ARE NOT GETTING ERIC GORDON

Props to Walton for giving us some recognition. However, the ESPN team is absolutely horrendous in studio. I cannot stand either one. I actually think Stewart Scott bothers me the most out of the 3. I don't know what it is about him...he tries too hard or something.
