Default Keeper League Shelden Williams Position Vote: F to FC

Ok, I'm just copying this from avoidingthe clowns in the ABA League:

"most sites list Shelden as strictly a PF or F but that is mainly because of his 6'9" height and drafting of Al Horford (1" taller). Shelden last year played both F and C.

HoopsHype has him in the depth chart as a PF but his profile lists him as a C

    http://hoopshype.com/players/shelden_williams.htm

so while the current roster should slot him as a F he is definitely eligible to play C (kind of a mike dunleavy/danny granger situation - being depth charted in the SG role)."

it is possible, but since only two web sites are used as evidence and neither is exactly "mainstream" I have to be skeptical.

    1) An article by a team beat writer for a major paper
    2) articles by major national media like cnn-si, fox, espn, etc.,
    and
    3) info about which of these sites list him as a multi-position player

could each serve as compelling evidence

For me most of the links didn't work. I'm open to it and think its reasonable, just need to info. I'll withhold my vote and see if Mourning can provide more info.

    " Aug. 21, 2007 - 5:56 p.m. ET

The Atlanta Hawks have picked up the 2008-09 contract option on forward/center Shelden Williams.

Williams was one of the few Hawks to avoid serious injury last year, leading the team with 81 games played. Although his rookie season wasn't exactly dominant, Williams still managed to lead all freshmen in rebounding with 5.4 per game and in double-doubles, with eight. The option is worth $3.4 million."

    Thanks avoidingtheclown :

    "Atlanta Journal Consitution
    Hawks remain unbeaten in preseason

Shelden Williams' rookie season with the Hawks played out like an identity crisis of sorts for a college center trying to learn power forward in the NBA.

At least that much is over now.

The introduction of Al Horford to the four-spot has clarified Williams' role this preseason. He's the backup center to Zaza Pachulia.

The center part, at least, is OK by Williams.

"To be honest, wherever I need to be to help the team, and be out on the court and produce [is fine]," Williams said.

Center is where he flourished in April when Pachulia was out with nagging injuries. Williams averaged a double-double (11 points, 10 rebounds) over nine games to take rookie-of-the-month honors.

Center is a role the Hawks feel the 6-foot-9 Williams is more suited to, despite the inches he gives up to big centers around the league. His wide body and physical post play are better suited to banging than guarding quick players such as Kevin Garnett and Dirk Nowitzki at power forward.

Hmmm. The Atlanta article seems to declare that he will ONLY play center. IN which case, he shouldn't be forward eligible .... which means that I want his position to change but not to F/C, just center. I don't know what to do with that.

On a side note, I only see position changes going to multiple positions. I have three legit starting centers on my team, which one would think of as excellent trade bait, but the dilution of the center pool, where it's easier to vote your guy to become a C than acquire *bona fide* center, is hurting one of my primary strengths.

Call a duck a duck. In this case, if you put up a poll changing his position to center, I will vote yes. but saying that he's a center/forward will have to wait until he sees minutes at both this season.

Sorry for the long rant ...

I've said for years we need some agreed upon parameters for position votes so that we're all on the same page. But few agreed so I guess we just go case by case.
