Default Rumor: Kobe cleans out locker

According to multiple posters on LakersGround, there are reports on Los Angeles Radio that Kobe has cleaned out his locker. Listen, this may be a bogus rumor, but LakersGround has just become the most entertaining place on the internet. I'm just over there like all and stuff. Just thought that some of you might want to join me in viewing a collective meltdown of the Purple & Gold Nation.

After giving all this some real thought and after reading the two thread titles, I have come to the conclusion that Tinsley is being traded for Kobe. There is no other conclusion to draw here.

According to this thread, he'd be going to Dallas:

Did he forcibly clean out his locker or was there consent from Lakers management?

Here's the latest posted on there.....I have no idea what it means....BUt this is hilarious. I think there's gonna be a riot in LA if they did the trade that is being leaked on there.....

"He sat out practice today by mutual agreement. He didn't watch the practice and there's lots of stuff going on.

Still stuff in his locker, but there's stuff that's not in his locker.

Phil said he can't comment on whether or not Kobe will play thursday - he only said that some things need to be discussed and worked out."

They're going to get absolutely nothing (in comparison) for him and suck for years.

Well, since Boston will be a contender this year and New York should at least make the playoffs, I'm glad Stern can't have it completely his way, as if this goes down, the Lakers will be cellar dwellers.

Also, if it goes down, no way we trade JO to LA at the deadline like some pundits are suggesting. They'll be in full rebuilding mode and coveting that young talent.

I've been saying Kobe would be Dallas bound since the whole thing started. It makes a ton of sense.

other than being in the western conference, yeah i does. cuban i think would give up more than phoenix or chicago. it also explains the glut of wings cuban has (jones, stackhouse, hassell, george, ager on top of howard and terry)

Unless a MAVs deal is better then any deal offered by the Bulls or whatever other team....I would think that it would not make sense ( from a PR POV ) to send Kobe to a team that would visit the Lakers 2+ times a season. Heck, you can add 2+ more games if you include the Mavs visiting the Clippers in the LA Forum.

I can only imagine the # of 40+ ppg that Kobe would drop on the Lakers if he were to visit

I can tell you this much if Phil Jackson has much say in whats going on he is going to push hard for Howard to be the main piece in a Kobe deal. I bet Jackson sees a lot of Pippen in him.

Assuming the Bulls were ever pursuing Kobe. The Bulls as surprising as it may be don't need Kobe for the price they have to pay. Gordon and Deng plus contracts for Kobe at the very least, and where does that get you if your the Bulls? IMO you sell some more merchandise and thats it. You lose some versatility from a guy like Deng. Plus Gordon and Deng can score just fine. The Bulls need a scoring big man. They already have perimeter scoring.

The Mavs make a ton of sense. Cuban is the type of owner to make a deal for a player like Kobe without even thinking twice. If he can keep Dirk and acquire Kobe he will give up whatever it takes. I don't think you can say the same for the Bulls. Just my opinion that Dallas makes the most sense of any destination. I doubt the Lakers care about trading in conference. Heck they almost traded Shaq to Dallas til they got what they considered a better deal from Miami.

Kobe's GALLION dollar contract has no bearing on how much the Lakers or other teams can maneuver on this.

i do agree with that but the bulls are definitely not giving up gordon, deng and wallace which i imagine is what the lakers are hoping for. the knicks, while they want kobe, just doesn't have the parts (laker fans are going to be happy with who from that roster?). phoenix is the same deal, unless it involves marion and barbosa but that doesn't make sense from their perspective.

who would be in the running in the east?

    detroit? i don't imagine they'd interested.

    cleveland? who would they trade?

    philly? ditto.

    miami? why?

atlanta? how would that make sense for anyone?

    charlotte? next.

toronto? interesting idea. would take bosh, calderon and parker else. would kobe be happy with ford, bargnani and garbajosa? not likely.

new jersey? they'd have to trade vince and krstic at least and i don't know how lakers would feel about that.

    wizards? nope.

    orlando? with what?

    milwaukee? unlikely.

    boston? why?

    indiana? with what?

    the west?

houston? has parts but same situation as dallas.

    seattle? no.

    portland? no.

    minnesota? no.

    spurs? no.

    memphis? not sure with what.

denver? lets not even go there.

    jazz? with what?

    clippers? with?

warriors? i suppose some combo of bellinelli, wright, ellis, etc could be enticing but more so than dallas?

sacto? for kevin martin and interchangable pieces but would sacto do it? plus same western conf issues.

i just don't see a better deal out there than what is rumored by the mavs.

If Kobe goes to Dallas for anything except Dirk (and they're not trading Dirk), I give the Mavs the title right now.

I hope this goes through, it would be a beauty to watch, the two greatest players in the world playing together at the same time, and what's more, their skill sets are complementary.

    I'm praying for this one.

Do you really see Phil Jackson coaching a >40 win team? If he did, I don't think he would just ignore 10-0 runs like he used too.

BSPN just reported that he just rearranged his locker.

Kobe has a no-trade clause, meaning HE decides where he wants to play.

And I doubt he'd want to play here, but if Joe Dumars didn't make a serious offer for Kobe, he wouldn't be doing his job. I can't imagine how he wouldn't make our roster better, as long as we don't give up more than two starters and some picks.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

If they do any deal with Dallas not involving Dirk, the Lakers are going to get HOSED!! Howard and Terry + picks do not at all equal Kobe's value, and not just that, that would put LA in a logjam at the PG position. Terry's contract sucks too, so that would make it even worse... It'd effectively be just Howard that they'd get out of the deal, since the picks would more than likely be in the low 20's.

Why is there such a haste to trade him anyway? You aren't going to get equal value for him, period (except Bulls I suppose, but they're a blooming team and already have their needs that Kobe would address). It's almost more worth it just to wait it out and let his contract expire... am I wrong? Is there something I'm missing here?
