    Go Buckeyes!!

You're about to get a big dose of Beanie Wells and Malcolm Jenkins.

Ray Hall may run one back too.

It's been a fun week in WL. I've seen about 30 (apparent) students wearing OSU apparel, a dozen wearing Notre Dame shirts, 4 wearing IU shirts, 2 Michigan fans, one Illinois, and one Wisconsin fan.

That's pretty normal around here really. I know one thing, and that's that I'm going nowhere near campus after around noon on Saturday. It's going to be a madhouse. The kids will be on October break and have plenty of excuses to indulge.

I've never heard any of them needing an excuse.

War cry? Sounded more like a squeak being issued from West Lafayette this evening.

I was pretty happy with it myself - about as happy as you can be after a loss. I was very afraid we'd get absolutely blown out, even more afraid after quarter 1. Going in I figured they'd stop us some and we'd stop them never - was thinking 42-14. Was convinced we were one of the worst teams ever to be ranked this late in the season - ends up we aren't.

Even though we lost it didn't go at all like I thought and I found out a few things.

    - Our defense isn't as bad as I thought (I had thought it atrocious but it looked respectable last night - after the 1st quarter anyway)
    - Our offense isn't as good as I thought
    - Painter really hasn't improved from last year after all

I still have no idea how good OSU is - better than us obviously, but I knew that going in.

I hate laying the blame on one player but Painter missed a TON of WIDE open receivers - even when he had time. In fact, OSU really didn't pressure him much until the game was in such a situation that we couldn't even think about running. If Painter had hit those guys, I won't say that we'd have won but it sure could have been interesting. Instead, he looked like Rex Grossman - or the 2006 version of Curtis Painter.

So now the big question is - Can Painter play against good defenses at all? That'll determine if we can be grouped with Illinois, Wisc, Mich & Penn St in the league's 2nd tier or if we're really a crap team that had a soft schedule.

Well, I wish I hadn't bothered to TiVo Purdue or Michigan State. I wish I could have seen the USC/Stanford game.

I actually found the Stanford/USC game late on some strange station I'd never seen before (channel 72 on Brighthouse). When I saw Harbaugh was their coach I knew I had to watch it.
