Fans Encouraged to be in Seats before 8 p.m. for Opener
INDIANAPOLIS - When is a football game more than a football game? A few answers . . .
1) When it involves one of the biggest names in music.
2) When it's not just a game, but a civic event, too.
3) When it involves last season's Super Bowl champions.
All of the above are true for the Colts' 2007 regular-season opener against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, September 6, at the RCA Dome. Thatís why ticket-holders are being encouraged to arrive not at 8:30 p.m., but shortly before 8 p.m.
Because thatís when the show starts.
At 8 p.m., fans will see a live performance inside the RCA Dome by Indiana native John Mellencamp. There also will be a banner ceremony to celebrate the Coltsí Super Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears this past February.
Interscope Records recording artist Keyshia Cole will sing the National Anthem with the Voices of Unity choir at Kickoff.

The game will be televised nationally on NBC.

RCA Dome gates open at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
A full day of festivities has been planned to help Colts fans celebrate the home opener.
It kicks off at the City Market from 11:30-1:00. Colts fans can tour the remodeled Colts in Motion traveling museum, meet Colts cheerleaders and team mascot Blue, enter to win tickets to the sold-out game against New Orleans and listen to The Joes entertain the lunch-hour crowd.
Later that day Colts fans are invited to a free concert at Monument Circle at 5 p.m. Five-time Grammy Award winner Faith Hill will headline the concert that will also feature the first ďAmerican Idol,Ē Kelly Clarkson; and rock band Hinder.
Portions of the Monument Circle concert will be broadcast in the RCA Dome.
Also on Thursday, the Colts and the Indiana Department of Child Services will be collecting new and gently used children's books for the Books for Youth program.
Fans can drop off their donation outside any of the RCA Dome gates from 6:30-8:30. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
