    Default Vick to plead guilty

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2983121

I hope he saved his money and didn't waste too much of it on his dog fighting endeavors. Scumbag. His career is DONE IMHO. He will certainly be taking a years mandatory vacation if Goodell has any sense he should aim for two.

Based on pleading guilty to the gambling, he'd probably done for life in the league.

The guy was born to play in the Arena League anyway.

Man, if Sandler would have waited about 3 years before remaking The Longest Yard, he could have put "based on a true story," in the credits.

And to think that people thought that Marcus could have moved in with Mike and gotten in life/attitude straightened out.

I'm still waiting for Marcus to be involved somehow.

I kind of feel bad for Vick now. IDK why, but I feel like the NFL needs to address the situation of people's friends that are clearly not their friends dragging their players down. The NFL should create a program teaching players to recognize people that are only using them for their money and possesions.

    BULL****!!!
Vick is supposed to be an educated adult. He and he alone is responsible for the decisions he's made. He even had the example of what happened to his brother to drive home the consequences of stupid choices.
You are trying to paint him as a victim of his "friends". He is a victim of his stupidity and nothing else. The only victims in this case are the dogs he and his partners abused and destroyed.

I have to agree with cactusjack, Vick has himself to blame. His past too perhaps, but I have no idea what his past is. Safe assumption, however, is that unless he's just that stupid and/or weak-minded, something was missing in his childhood to teach him to stay away from this stuff.

I'm not trying to paint Vick as the victim here, but I do think the NFL has a bigger problem than they are willing to acknowledge. Its clearly a trend now that young players continually run into issues due to poor associations.

Your point is valid to a degree, but when you hang dogs, then when they don't die you personally hold them under water till they drown or slam them into the ground to kill them, you have moral issues way beyond what peer pressure creates.

Going out clubbing too much, smoking weed, partying with the girls, gambling too much or at all, getting in a barfight perhaps, maybe (maybe) being in the car when your boy pops off some shots in a drive-by, those are things where you maybe let your friends catch you up in trouble.

This case isn't that at all. You don't need to be PETA to be repulsed by how he treated these animals hands-on.

I'll be honest I didn't know that is what his plea deal was for. I thought he was only fessing up to gambling and supplying funding.

I just think it's a shame he won't be in prison for the rest of his life.

I know a lot of people may think it's not right to compare the two, but just imagine if it was people he did these things to?? It obviously doesn't hold the same weight in regard to the law, but those animals felt the same pain and fear as would a human.

I think the "man" should rot in prison, personally.

As to his career, some clueless GM will give him a shot, but it won't be successful. No fan-base would support him.

I agree with you PacerDU. What he did to those dogs is as wrong as it is to do to humans. I wouldn't be opposed to the death penalty for a person who did this on the scale that he participated in it.

Far from being corrupted by bad associations,

Vick is the one that his FRIENDS should not have hung out with. He was running things.

It would be just great if this supposedly hardbutt judge throws out the 12-18 month "recommendation" the prosceutors agreed to, and gives him 5 years.
