The fact that Golden State bought him out should tell us something.

If we could get him for the minimum, sure. But other than that, no.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I don't know much about him, but just looking at his stats on ESPN makes me think we shouldn't. He isn't offering us anything we can't get from our current bigmen.

Are you looking at him because he is bigger than Troy and Jeff or what?

He could be a more forceful rebounder/shot blocker then jeff or softy...I say why not? in golden state he wasn't suited for that run and gun up n down the floor style of play...I dont think we are playing that type of ball this upcoming season under JOB...

I had no idea he was bought out. I thought you were suggesting trading for that ridiculous contract of his (he's Brad Miller/Troy Murphy/Mike Dunleavy's "haters" ' worst fears COMBINED in terms of the production to salary ratio).

But since he's bought out, we could likely sign him for under $2mm a year. That might be worth considering, but I just don't see how he fits in here.

Foyle is a really good Defensive Big Man because of his huge wingspan, height and size. But he's a purely roleplaying Center.....he can come in and give you solid rebounding, he blocks alot of shots, plays solid defense is a VERY SOLID citizen but is an offensive liability ( worse then Foster ) and may not be suited for a fast paced offense.

Frankly, if we move Foster to help free up some minutes for Ike, I wouldn't mind having Foyle on the team. If used properly ( purely from a defensive standpoint )....and if he is cheap...if he can be had for 2 mil.....he's worth it.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

Would you rather have Harrison get that minute.

Harrison would foul out of the game in that minute...

If we need a Big Man that had to come in and SOLIDLY defend the opposing Low-Post scoring Big Man while having Tinsley, Marquis, Granger and JONeal on the floor.....then I would want to give those minutes to a player like Foyle ( or in our case....Foster ).

If we need a Big Man that can come in and foul the opposing Low-Post scoring Big Man in 10 seconds flat....I would want to give those minutes to Harrison . Just kidding....if the first JONeal, Murphy and Ike are in Foul trouble, the backup ( and undersized but slow ) Big Man is on the floor and needed some scoring....I wouldn't mind giving Harrison some minutes to have him get his quick 5 fouls while scoring as much as he can ( note the many IFs ).

I guess it depends on the need as to who would get the minutes I look at both players as roleplayers....as long as you use them for a specific purpose and have them play with their games....they are effective.

I don't think you can even think about Harrison being on the roster until he grows up. I have him as the very last man when I think of the roster cuz he has proven time and again he can't handle even very small minutes like a pro, even when he is 100%, which is never. I think Harrison is out of the league when this contract is over because he has regressed even with his approach. Carlise was right he has a football mentality like his Dad, all out but completely out of control both action and mindset. Wasted space on a roster. What a waste of a big body.

So yes Adonal would be a serviceable back up if injuries, good lockeroom guy, and if you can get him on the way cheap.

Speed has it right about Foyle. He is a great guy, great lockeroom guy. Excellent low post defender, good shotblocker. I thnk most of you would be surprised at how effective Foyle can be (in his limited way). And I would much rather have Foyle than Harrison.

Having said that I don't think there are any minutes for Foyle. And no, OB will never play JO and Foyle together. So I don't think Foyle would be a good pickup

If you could get him for the min, and avoid paying a tax, then yes. Harrison has done nothing to earn minutes. If he's really good enough, then he'll get the run.

Foyle would be a good big body for spot minutes or to fill in when Jeff's back needs a rest.

Again, only for the minimum, but at that price, I'd take him.

I don't see why OB wouldn't try JO and foyle on the floor at the same time...The defense up front would be amazing! esp with granger at the 3!

OB likes to play at the very least 1 big guy who can shoot from outside. So expect to see Murphy, Williams and Granger to get almost all the power forward minutes

while i tend to subscribe to this, i'm not sure its a given... has he ever had a truly dominant post player or big? he had lafrenz and battie in boston and dalmebert in philly. we can't exactly say how his offense is going to run now that he has this type of tool at his disposal. given his fundamental belief in defense, i wouldn't say its out of the question to see a 3-perim shooter lineup with foyle and JO in the front court.

foyle's got better size and better one-on-one defense than foster. he was given a monster contract but like austin, it wasn't his fault. we could probably get him for the minimum. plus it would give us the freedom to move foster while he is still somewhat desired and before his back craps out for good.

that being said it looks like orlando is going after him.

if we miss out on foyle but are still looking to sign that type of player, the selection available is brian skinner, dale davis and dikembe mutombo.

i also believe that harrison will never get his head on straight. i feel like the game against the hawks at the end of the season where harrison got the start and decided instead of trying to make the best of playing time decided to whine and ***** to officials and was ejected. what good did that do anyone? the team? david? not that anyone getting ejected is a good idea but david should be fighting for minutes not taking the minutes he's offered and inviting himself to go back to the lockerroom early.
    This is the darkest timeline.

I spoke to a firend about this today. I reckon we could get him for the vets min and would be happy to see him on the team for reasons Speed and Uncle Buck have already explained

Yep that was the like final straw in my mind, it showed that he didn't really even care what is the right thing to do or try to do. I have patience for someone trying, at least, but the was an F U to the whole idea of re shaping his behavior, imho. I read an article when he was drafted about how he drove his SUV through the grass in college, like parked on the sidewalk in front of the student center or admin center or something and walked right in and just left his car there. Its not really a big deal, but campus police didn't do anything I guess. I just see that kind of attitude being his down fall.

Anyway, I would love to have DD or Skinner, both are enforcer types. If you have one of those games that the Pacers start to get bullied in, you give them some time.

I really don't know how much money the Pacers have to spend w/o going over the luxury tax threshold though. I really hope that 15th guy is someone who can bring a little real deal, hard foul quiet toughness to the team and play some solid low post defense.

I just saw that PJ Brown was out there still, I think he would be a perfect fit, but probably will get more money and would want guaranteed PT, which he wouldn't get here I don't think.

this is why i would advocate getting a tough defensive guy like foyle or davis or skinner. the detroit game that keeps replaying in my mind. one thing the spurs are able to do (and to a lesser extent the jazz) is play multiple styles. the spurs can run with the suns or grind it out and slow it down. if we bring in one of the guys we've mentioned at a small price they're going to expect to be on the deep end of the bench unless other circumstances arise. PJ is going to have better offers so i think that is out of the question. but they'll be available to create mismatch problems (moving JO to PF and if we're really crazy murphy to SF) and line the perimeter with shooters... who knows

its all guessing at this point because we don't know how obrien is going to react having an extremely talented big.
    This is the darkest timeline.

Tough and Adonal Foyle do not belong in the same sentence. He can block shots, and yes he's great in the lockerroom and community, but he's NOT a very good defender overall. He's just one of those baby face (not literally) players that the fans cheer for when he does something good because he normally sucks the majority of the time. I put him up there as being about as valuable to us as Pat Burke. if you don't believe me, ask someone else that's followed the Warriors over the last 10-15 years.
