Default Preseason game one: Colts vs. Cowboys

The Colt's bring a sparkling 1-8 preseason mark in their last 9 games. Fortunately, since the arrival of Polian in 1998, we have the best regular season record in the league by 6 games. We should see a lot of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teamers in this one.

    http://www.colts.com/gameday.cfm?gameid=259

The Indianapolis Colts return to Texas Stadium for the second time since last November when they battle the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, August 9 in the preseason opener for both teams. Kickoff for the contest, broadcast nationally by FOX Sports, is 8:00 p.m. (EDT)/7:00 p.m.

I second that emotion. He may still be out there working on technique with professor Mudd after the final whistle. Might have to match up with DeMarcus Ware a few times. Probably won't be as difficult as practice (vs.Freeney) however.

Thanks for the heads up! I was wondering if this was going to be a nationally televised game. I'll be sure to set the DVR to record it tonight.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

I really don't care if we win or lose in preseason, it's always feels better to win though. I just hope the guys get in some good practice and that nobody gets hurt.

I thought Ed Johnson #62 looked pretty good at DT. He was getting upfield on almost every play. Big difference in the Colt's D without Sanders. Marion Barber would not have been scampering around like that with Zombie Bob on the field. Freddie Keiaho and Marlin Jackson with some good hits.

Can I just say I absolutely am not a fan of Jim Sorgi? One day we're going to need a backup QB. I pray he isn't the one.

Agreed. How come we couldn't sign someone like Brad Johnson to back up Peyton?

Simply if Peyton goes down the Colts are in trouble. Sorgi is kept because he doesn't complain, smart enough to run the offense in practice but just doesn't have the physical tools to ever think about being a starter. Just call him Ollie.

Hey, I was playing Madden 07 a couple days ago and Peyton got a pinched nerve and missed a series. Sorgi came in and marched right down for a TD. It was my only one for the game (It's my first time playing Madden and I suck.)

As for the real game, I was impressed with Ed Johnson too.

I thought that Keiaho, Bethea, and Jackson looked good. I don't think we'll miss a beat having to start those guys.

Gonzalez looked good with the ball. He's supposed to be a great after the catch guy. I don't think Peyton looked at him once, but on Sorgi's second series I think Tom Moore must have told Jim to get him the ball.

Ugoh looked quite good for a rookie LT.

Areas of concern seem to be the DT's and the backup RB. Ed Johnson looked good, but as a whole they seemed pretty easily pushed around by a Dallas OL that was missing a couple starters. After Freeney and Mathis, we have no one who can get to the QB.

None of the RB's other than Addai looked good. That's a bit scary. Maybe they'll look better with Peyton under center and the 1st team line, but they weren't very impressive last night.

Right now Joe better be ready to carry the ball 300-400 times this season if not more than that. Cause Dorsey stinks. We need to address the DT situation before anything else though. If we pick up a better backup RB along the way then thats fine, but I think Joe can carry the load. I seem him getting 1500+ yards and and 15+ total TDs this season if we don't get him a reliable backup.

I won't bash Dorsey after one game, especially since he played with the second and third stringers all game. It's really a good time for him to get his feet under him and get some game time experience moving towards the regular season.

I think it's more important to see how he progresses from game to game during the preseason than it is to judge him based on how he did his first game.
