So does this merit Army's membership in the "Friends of Mel Mel", MR?He also doesn't know what is going on regarding his stay here.
Armstrong, who averaged 5.6 points and 2.4 assists in 81 games last season, has a non-guaranteed contract with the Pacers. He said he's looking for a guaranteed contract and he's also keeping an eye on Jermaine O'Neal's future with the team.
"I've got to have a guaranteed contract just because of the way I play. Not only in games, but I also get after it in practice," the 39-year-old said. "I wouldn't mind coming back to Indiana. My issue is whether Jermaine O'Neal will be here. Will Jamaal Tinsley be here? I don't want to rebuild. I've rebuilt before."
Armstrong could be squeezed out because the Pacers signed both Travis Diener to back up Tinsley and Andre Owens to a partially-guaranteed deal. Marquis Daniels also is expected to play some point guard.
"I've got some interest from other teams," Armstrong said without revealing names. "We're just trying to see what the best interest is for me. I can still play. I'm not worried about that. I'm just going to sit back and wait."
