If he wants the majority preseason off I say give it to him, if the team thinks he will still get in shape.

But to the people saying he hadn't told the team, maybe he did tell them that he was thinking about it, it would explain the Ugoh pick.

If the ticker on ESPN is reliable it says Tarik will retire.

Of course maybe they just read the board.

    Great news!

Adalius Thomas and Roosevelt Colvin will be giving Peyton some serious nightmares.

    But he has retired.

Tarik Glenn informed the Colts that he will retire.
Glenn "feels burned out," according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Only 31, Glenn played ten seasons in the league and was three times a Pro Bowler. He'll likely either be replaced by second-year man Charlie Johnson or raw rookie second-rounder Tony Ugoh. Neither is likely to be the consistent pass-protecting presence Glenn was on Peyton Manning's blind side.

I was only joking about being happy that he retired. I never wish for any guy who still has the ability to play at a high level to retire. Tarik Glenn could have easily played for another 5+ years at a high level.

Yeah, I couldn't really tell though, haha.

Sucks a lot for us. Damn, that's really something that came out of nowhere.

He should have said something to us before the draft, at least give the implication, unless something happened to where he needed to and it just popped up.

Its a good thing that Peyton has been working on his mobility more and more the last few years, he will need it.

Although if their is any offense that can lose a pro bowler and still be in great shape its ours.

I meant to watch this but I got caught up studying, anybody watch this by any chance.

Never mind, just looked at Indystar its a shame hes retiring. But hey if he changes his mind, I am sure the Colts will welcome him back.

Ugoh drafting FTW, lol at anybody that mocked that. Well Ugoh has 5 preseason and 16 regular season games to learn how to do a respectable job. Thats all Manning and hte offense needs really is a respectable job and they should be able to still get 30 points a game or so.

Tarik is a classy dude. He said he didn't think he had the passion to give it his all anymore so he is going to retire. He could have half @ssed it and collected a big pay check.

    Ring of Fame?

Close call IMO. Hinton is there, right, so it's not far-fetched. Of course you could stick Harrison, Peyton, perhaps Edge and Wayne, maybe Dwight and Saturday in there. Could get pretty full and start to be a tough place to earn a spot into.

It'll be interesting to see how Ugoh does. We all figured he'd be the guy in '08 - give Polian an option in case he couldn't give Tarik big money.

One nice thing is the rest of the line is solid enough that you can give him doubleteam help quite a bit. Polian must have been pretty comfortable with him because he traded a lot to get him. His evaluation is usually very good so long-term this will probably work out. Lot more pressure on Ugoh than there was a week ago though. Does make me wonder if Tarik gave Polian a hint before the draft.

The big question mark with the team is still the secondary. This doesn't help but I think you can cover for it.

What really helps the situation is Howard Mudd is the absolute best line coach in football. He can take anyone and have them approach an all pro level in a short time.

As nice as it would be to have him back another 5 years, it's hard to knock a guy for wanting to go out while his body is still holding up.

Thanks for the 10 years Tarik. Can't blame you for leaving if you just don't feel like your heart is in it anymore. See you in the Ring of Fame.

Tarik's absensce will certainly be a hit, especially early in the season as the O-line adjusts.

On the other side of things, at least the Colts get a roster exemption, and have about 4 million plus freed up.
Although at this time of the season, I'm not sure what the options are, or who is out there.

Thanks Tarik for a solid pro bowl career.
You'll be missed, and I'm sure no one more so than Peyton's backside.

Well if it gets too heavy from the blindside now they can just trap the hell out of it with Addai. He's going to be ready to hurt defenses full time I think. That should slow down the rush.
