Well, I think of JO as a true "5". I know I'm in the minority, but that's not the point...

I think Krstic's ability to spread the floor will help, and I don't think Krstic is "soft" defensively or on the glass, but admit he's not "rugged".

Bynum is like David Harrison, but with better control over his emotions and fouls. But David has better size (at least he did before he lost weight) through his trunk and midsection and "can" hold his ground better (although he fouls anyway.)

I don't see David thriving under JOB's system, where getting up and down the court and quickly attacking the defense are vital. I think Bynum could develop like Dalembert developed under JOB, but frankly I see Bynum's upside as similar to Dalembert's. Kristic is already better than that.

Side note. Last year, Dalembert was #12 in rpg at 8.9. So I said to myself, "Hmmm, the JO had to be in the top ten, why don't we ever hear that?" Can somebody explain this to me?

Not to disrespect you, but you don't seem to watch enough of Bynum's game. There is no way Bynum is like Harrison. At least, Bynum has some offensive skills. No way my friend, NO way.

There is no doubt in my mind that if given the minute, around 30min/game, Bynum would easily averages a double figure, 10/10. It's not too far away, as I saw him last season, especially earlier into the season. A lot of us was amazed how Bynum improves his game so quickly. He even filled the starting center role very well. In fact, even Ben Wallace gave prop to Bynum when he dropped a double figure the day we played the Chicago Bulls.

The one thing the Pacers should be worry about is his stamina. That is the one aspect that I think he needs to improve the most in order to go to the next level. And so far that is exactly what he's been working out in the offseason, improving his stamina and strength.

You've watched him much more than I have so I'll bow to that, however from what I've seen from him I'd want him working on his quickness and footwork.

Let me qualify that by saying that when you're 19 you should be working on everything. However IMO Bynum is about average in athleticism for an NBA center and well above average in strength. If I were coaching him, I'd want him to go into this season with one low post move that's virtually unstoppable - whether it's a drop-step, a jump hook, turnaround from 6-8 feet - doesn't really matter as long as he has that one go-to move.

The stamina is obvious. He's 19 so he mostly gets a pass but he has a lot of baby fat - needs to get more toned, quit carrying the extra weight and get the BFI down. But if you can get one move going which the defender always has to guard against, you can work other moves off that.

Nice try, but you obviously haven't watched David - the comparison is appropriate if not somewhat insulting to Harrison. If there's one thing David can do right now, he can get good looks from the low post. His offensive footwork is solid, and from the left block I would even call it polished. And he gets to the line a lot. Its the other end of the court that David's footwork sucks, where he uses his hands too much and gets into foul trouble, and where he loses him temper.

For just one example, as a rookie in Game #4 against NJ, David got to the FT line 10 times in just nine minutes of play in the third quarter, during a game in which nothing was going right for the Pacers and his play was the only bright spot.

Couldn't I say the same about JO? How hard is this to understand? He loves THE LAKERS, as in the organization, not players like Sasha Vujacic and Brian Cook.

And the point of the quote was to demonstrate how easy it is to cherry-pick quotes. I could have compared this quote to JO's rant on Bird and in a vacuum, things would look very different..
Except that, you know, the "rant on Bird" was fabricated by ESPN.

When has/will Harrison or Oden do this? These games would not be as notable if it wasn't for the competition he did it against. Some people say the kid has no fire but when he goes up against the best he's bringing something.

Bynum will out play Oden next season. These boys are the same age so no excuses. I'm willing to make a wager if anyone is interested.

I didn't want to do this...per 40min stats for Harrison and Bynum 06-07...

Players TRB AST STL BLK PTS
    Harrison 8.8 1.3 1.1 2.5 14.9
    Bynum 10.8 2.1 0.3 2.9 14.2

Yeah, Bynum is slightly better and younger but I think I'll keep JO and just pair him with Harrison over a couple of rebounds and assists...

Again, I agree with you. Bynum is going to be a beast but no reasonable person thinks that he is better than Oden or comparable to Harrison. Come on guys. It's just...we can't send you guys our franchise guy when we don't even know for sure that Bynum will be even that good. And, who is to say that Bynum won't get injured? You never know these things. Potential is something very, very dangerous and scary.

    Rexnom-

And the only reason we have the opportunity to trade J.O. for Bynum
is also because nobody knows how good he'll be. If they did, either
L.A. wouldn't be open to dealing him or we wouldn't want him. As long
as Walsh is around, I'll trust the FO on talent eval and future projection.

Once he's gone, I'm not sure I'll trust much of anything they do.

Can't see them making it up to that degree. JO is also to media savvy to let something slip also.

More likely it was an off-the-record remark that got put on the record.

Sure, that's a "fabrication." Only a sleazebag reporter would take an off-the-record remark and turn it into a quote.

When ESPN releases their version of the tape, then maybe it can have some credibility. We already know that SI and ESPN reports don't have the letters I and F on their laptops.

I seriously doubt it. By comparing the existing audio clip to SI's and ESPN's articles, you can already see that everything in the ESPN article is at least greatly modified and exagerrated. SI is missing the "if" everywhere, but ESPN is flat-out making up stuff and adding it to the "interview."

Don't take my word for it. Listed to the audio and compare it to SI's and ESPN's articles on the subject.

You can see I'm a Laker fan posting this message by my moniker, but I have to ask you: if you're sure Bynum's going to be so good--and I for one agree he will--why do you want to trade him? Am I right? You do want to trade him, yes? No? (I have to ask, because this is one loooong thread.)

Yes, with his moniker, I can't tell if he's a fan of the Pacers or Lakers. I mean, both teams have the same number of letters in their respective names and do share four out of six letters in common. Heck, I'm confused now....

Well, last weeks "damage control" certainly worked for you!!

Did you ever think that ESPN would of pulled the article if it came out that JO didn't actually make those comments?

    They didn't.

In fact, they kept it as a headline and then sub-headline for the entire week. Right through the whole JO & Bird backpedaling damage control exercise!!

But, like I said, as long as YOU think they made it up, then it's alright!!!

I'm trying to figure out why you guys think Bynum Brigade is a troll. He posts substance and then offers facts to back it up. You may disagree with what he says (I do myself) but he doesn't seem to be engaging in trollish behavior to me.

    I'm defending a Lakers fan - I feel dirty.

    Good post.

Harrison, of any Pacer, needs a fresh start somewhere else.

EDIT: I also agree with the post above by the dirty Knick fan.
