seems reasonable since I think that he is likely to become a lot more useful than some other guys getting more (eg Kapono, Walton)

Wow good deal for him, but I wonder why they would keep him since Deng will be getting the max. Its a reasonable price to pay for Nocioni I'm just not sure there is a long term place for him on the Bulls.

I forget, was he starting at 4 at the end of the season, or was Brown? Is Brown coming back?

At that price for his talent it's a great signing by the Bulls. At the very least they could trade him since his deal is just a tad better than an MLE signing. Perfect cost if he's going to be 25 mpg backing up Deng and working as the bench scoring punch, which his 38-39% 3 ball ensures he will be.

That takes out one more team in the running for Darko

I got a feeling he's gonna be a pacer and next to JO they are gonna bring us back to glory and make the Pistons hate the day the let DARKO go

I don't think we have a spot for Darko on this team. Not if we're favoring smaller power forwards (like Danny and Shawne). Unless you think Darko can hit long-range shots (I don't).

I think Darko would do wonders for this team just by simply allowing JO to play where he belongs. I think you find a place on this team for him.

i would agree ... except when you consider the coach. if we still had rick, absolutely. i think it would be important to have someone minimally competent on both sides of the ball to play next to JO to let him play the PF. but if JO'B has the expectations for the 3 and 4 listed in the shawne article. then you're probably not going to see a lot of JO/Foster on the floor together. it also begs the question: what about Ike? seems like he'd have to play C when or if he's on the floor (which i see as a problem given his height and lack of double-team passing ability)

I'd take Darko for the simple fact that he's a huge steal for the MLE. He's a serviceable player right now, but you have to think he still has a lot of untapped potential. I doubt he'll ever be the superstar he was hyped up to be pre-draft, but he could still be a very good starting big man in the future and he'd give us another young prospect and the hope that comes with them. At this point, I'll take it.

Regardless, they now have a good player with a good contract on their roster. If he's in the long-term plans as a key sub, then great. If not, he's a great asset in any trade.

There is never anything wrong with having above-average talent signed to good contracts on your roster. It cannot hurt you in any way.

Unless there's a *****fest over who should play. Then it's a bad thing. Think Darko won't whine if he doesn't start because Jim wants a smaller lineup or he likes Murphy next to JO better? That would be a problem.

I agree that the majority of the time it's a good idea, but it's not foolproof.

Man, Chapu needs to get a better agent or something. He's worth more than that.

He spend a lot of the last half of the season dealing with Plantar Facitis. Skiles tends to have Nocioni come off the bench because it works out better that way. As for Brown coming back, don't know and honestly don't care.

I don't get it. Yeah, if you can get Darko for the MLE, it's probably worth it. If we'd traded Foster to the Spurs, I could have seen signing Darko. But where's he going to play? We've got too many bigs and not enough guards, and we're going to spend the MLE on another big?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

If I had it my way I would try to deal Foster and Harrison to the spurs for Brent Berry and Beno Udrith

Yes, Nocioni's deal is more reasonable. However, nearly 8M per year is not a steal for a veteran backup who will not be getting any better.

Also, he stunk in the playoffs. Completely shut down. Pardon me if he was injured, but the games he was kept off the floor were the only games they won.

I like Nocioni- and I think that he has the chance to improve. He was a guy that I coveted the Pacers picking up in some sensational, unforseen way, but I never expected it to happen.

The fact that he's making less than Carroll, Kapano, and Luke Walton is incredible to me. I see Nocioni as a much better player than those three.

Good deal for Paxson, if it turns out he doesn't have a place on the team with Deng and all he gives you a good contract to make salaries work with some talent to match.
