he's not the same ridiculously high % 3pt shooter that kapono is but i was advocating getting him last summer when he was still floating around the dleague for the 'cats... so i'd be okay with him. i can't really recall watching him play defense... i don't know if thats because i never tried to watch for it or (more likely) he never played any. so that'd be a problem.

I would say Matt Caroll sounds more applying to the Pacers then Kareem Rush. if you can't crack a rotation on a expansion team then don't bother looking at that guy.

If that keeps him from torching us every time we play them I'm cool with it.

not always true... both anthony parker and maceo both played their way off NBA teams and over to europe and now they both (especially parker) obviously belong in the league. i tend to think you're right about kareem but i don't think thats an accurate generalization

People need to remember that Rush tried out for Seattle last year and didn't make it, which is why he ended up in Europe. Seattle sucked balls last year, and he couldn't make their team. Now, unless you're gonna argue that they already had Ray Allen so they had absolutely no use for another 2-guard, that should tell you something.

Well Carroll is a very good shooter, over 40% from 3 point land. And he isn't playing with a superstar or two like Kapono.

I wouldn't wanna pay Carroll more than 3 million a year, maybe 4 if I am feeling extra generous.

My guess is that he goes to Cleveland or San Antonio. Who would you rather play for if you are a 3 point shooter, defending champs, Lebron James, or the Pacers? Yeah I doubt he comes here. I am sure we are very interested in him but that doesn't mean he is all that interested in us unless we overpay.

You're probably right. But I'm just glad to hear that we're interested in a player that San Antonio is trying to get. I'd feel a lot more comfortable with our off-season moves if we'd just cheat off their paper. Hey, it got me through math.

This is the reason he was waived by Seattle

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kareem_Rush#_note-1

During the 2005-06 offseason, Rush signed with the Seattle SuperSonics but was made expendable due to a slow recovery from a groin injury, and was waived to make room for a replacement for two front court players who had sustained injuries.

So it looks like it has nothing to do with his attittude or his play, but just some bad luck.

Matt Carroll could be a nice addition, but I rather go after a starting PG/SG who can shoot the lights out. It probably needs to be through a trade of JO, but that's a price I'm willing to take.

Umm, Kareem Rush started for the Bobcats when he first arrived, and played well until he got injured. He returned from injury, and was upset that he didn't receive his starting spot back. Bickerstaff was going in another direction, and him and Kareem didn't see eye to eye.

Matt Carroll put up some pretty solid numbers thought, and usually shot pretty well. I wouldn't mind him.

Carroll seems like he's the one dimensional spot shooting type. I would be pleased if we got him, but I'd prefer someone who brings some additional dimensions to the table.

I would give him a dimension and a half. He does go to the lane occasionally, not likely to finish but shoots free throws well. Not a defensive presence, per se, but seems to put forth an honest effort.

Of all the possibilities, who was injured the least? Take the healthiest / best shooter we can afford. What is the Ron Burgundy line? It works a 100%, half of the time?

I like Carroll alot. He would be a nice addition to come off the bench for us. I view him more as a instant offense type of guy.Excellent shooter, very competitive and a crafty scorer. He's more then just a spot up shooter. However I don't think he's worth the full midlevel which he's probably going to get since thats what Kapono got and Carroll is a much better player in my opinion.

I read this thread before going to sleep, and just now woke up with this running through my head :

Carroll police, arrest this man, he talks in maths
He buzzes like a fridge, hes like a detuned radio
Carroll police, arrest this girl, her hitler hairdo, is making me feel ill
And we have crashed her party

Wouldn't suprise me if Isiah offers him the full MLE. It would make a lot more sense for us than the last two - especially the Jerome James joke of a signing.

Kareem did a good job backing up Kobe in the Lakers. If I remember correct he was doing fine in Charlotte before his apparent attitude problems.

I would be happier signing Kareem for around 800K than chasing and competing for Carrol. Kareem is a little bit older now and hopefully a little wiser...

After reviewing his stats, he on missed 2 FTs once the entire year and there were a lot of games where he scored very well from inside the arc.

Since he shoots FTs in the 85-90 range, if we can get him to be a little aggressive inside the arc, maybe we can pick up some points through his FT shooting.

In other words, despite some defensive deficiencies, he doesn't just seem to be a player who just stands behind the arc and fires away whenever he catches the ball.

We would just need to help him grow his game a little to find ways to get to the line, and JOB would have to come up with ways to help cover for him defensively. Just don't put him on the floor with Tinsley, if Tinsley is still here.

I only worry about how many guys can we cover for on the defesive end? We have alot of guys that need help on D. Tin man, Dunleavy, Murphy. I don't know about Ike, Dave has issues. Danny & Jeff are ok. Shawne is young, Marquesse is injury prone. Damn I am getting a little depressed.
