Do you use savant on a daily basis? A weekly basis? Once a month?
    Er, I probably do.

Etymology: French, from Middle French, from present participle of savoir to know, from Latin sapere to be wise -- more at SAGE
1 : a person of learning; especially : one with detailed knowledge in some specialized field (as of science or literature)

Would I rather hear Stuart Scott make up words all night? Not especially.

i don't know if anyone else noticed this, but with Boston, Charlotte, New York, and Atlanta all making substantial improvements, we're now arguably the worst team in the East.

Er, I don't really 'use' it. (My spoken vocabulary consists of pretty much things like 'Uh...' and 'Sweet!') But, I read it a lot. Some of the litcrit I was reading a month or so ago used it a lot, and it seems like random articles in magazines/blogs favor the word.

Bilas was a complete douche bag. He kept calling Kevin Durant a "savant". Guy needs to pick himself up a Websters, or a thesaurus or something. I mean, you don't say the same uncommon word over and over again. (Obviously, he ****ed me off)
Looks like you weren't alone. Nor were those savants who thought savant meant retard.

Jay Bilas just called Kevin Durant a 'savant'. I'll assume he meant that as a compliment.
Jay Bilas is going nuts over Conley. Does he think he went to Duke?
Jay Bilas going out of his way to show that he's not biased toward UNC. Whatever, Jay - nice try.
First big white stiff off the board. This is only a good thing if you are a Jazz fan.

hehehehehehehe I should really find a Kings message board right now. The unintential comedy should be off the charts. Upside was just used twice to describe Hawes. But "not a great athlete" according to Bilas. Thanks, Jay.

Two other non-Bilas related ones that were too good to leave out.

    Milwaukee's asian population just doubled.
Acie Law IV. Is he the first IV ever to be drafted? I have to say he is. Law can play though. Not sure he's a pure point that the Hawks need, but it's a pretty solid selection - if you aren't drafting for the BPA.

20:38:49 ‹sirkickyass› Acie Law III is actually Greg Oden
Thaddeus Young Einstein. 4.3 GPA? WTF? Did he realize he was an NBA prospect?

It really isn't that uncommon of a word. Expand your vocabulary!

After watching the last quarter of the season, I didn't know there was an argument about it in the first place.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

I know what the word means. I knew it as soon as he said it. I knew it the second time he said it. I knew it the third and forth times he said it. I just don't think he should use it EVERY time. Once is enough.

Not to brag, but I got a 1580 on my SATs (granted, the new ones are out of 2400...). But seriously, you don't need to use high-falutin' vocabulary to be intelligent. I mean, you may seem smart, but in the end you're still Mitt Romney.

Tirico kept getting Oden's HS wrong. He lost a decent amount of respect from me.
Now that was annoying. He kept calling it Lawrenceville North. It's Lawrence North High School.

I was slightly offended by that, considering how many times ESPN reporters came to our school to interview him and Mike.
