    Default Waiver/ Transaction Thread

Just thought it may be better to avoid posting several more threads on who was cut or picked up , use it if you want...

LA Clippers exercised the contract option on guard Quinton Ross through 2007-08.
Not a player transaction but interesting...
Detroit named Michael Curry assistant coach and Jeff Weltman director of player personnel.

We should get that Singleton feller (He's a PF right?). I do recall he had a good streak of games when given the minutes...

If Dee Brown is restricted I say we make an offer on him, or T. Green if he doesn't make it on the Blazer's roster. Just a thought, shouldn't be too expensive to grab one of the two. Daniel Ewing could also be a possibility? Just throwing out ideas, I know our point guard situation doesn't have me doing jumping jacks and somersaults at the moment.

Indiana signs Kareem Rush, Stephen Graham and Andre Owens.
the star has an update on this in today's fluff article. turns out that both rush and graham have guaranteed 1 year deals.

    http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dl.../1088/SPORTS04

Owens was one of three players -- with Kareem Rush and Stephen Graham -- the Pacers signed last week. While Rush and Graham got guaranteed contracts, Owens got a partially guaranteed deal.
that brings next season's guaranteed contracts to 12, plus andre owens and darell armstrong (partially guaranteed/unguaranteed)

of course, as we saw with james white last season, the pacers apparently aren't afraid to cut guaranteed money (min. money that is). but this year i think chances are good that all 3 guys make the team.

I should learn to read the board before I post something.

Anyway, besides James White, they ate John Edwards salary, too.

heh, i thought about starting a thread for it too then realized that it probably meant little anyway, finally figured that this thread is the best place for it

as for edwards, i figured his contract to be part of the price in getting harrington from the hawks, since we clearly had no interest in a guy we allowed to walk away just a season ago. james white on the other hand... the decision to cut him looks bad now that rawle is probably gone and white is playing well for the spurs summer team.

The problem was attitude. And for all the fans yelling at the Pacers to make good character decisions, cutting James White was a start.

    maybe you're right.

i'll confess that i don't really know what went on, and it could be as you said. on the other hand we just picked up a guy in kareem rush who may have something of an attitude problem too. you can argue that rush is a good gamble because of his talent and being 10th man makes him a small risk - but the same could be argued for james white as well.

my own view is that rawle marshall worked hard in summer league/preseason play, while james white didn't do as much. thus rawle was rewarded a roster spot. it's too bad though that rawle faded when it really counted - like post trade after quis injury and he was about the only sg on the roster. now it's looking like white with his athleticism and quickness and ball handling will be a better pro - which of course might still all come to nothing. we'll see.

James White has really never shown that he's a good basketball player. He was okay in Conference USA and was often overmatched after Cincy came to the Big East.

He's an uber-athlete but doesn't have many other discernable basketball skills. The idea that Pop gives him any run is ridiculous.

except outright athleticism is something the spurs lack. james white may be the single most exciting (life-like) thing on that roster.

After Ginobili and Parker. White has a shot to make the team, but he has to prove he can actually play. He is in a great situation though to grow.

Source: Wallace, Bobcats agree to deal
    DAVID SCOTT
    dscott@charlotteobserver.com
The Charlotte Bobcats and free-agent forward Gerald Wallace have agreed to a contract, the Observer has learned.

A source close to the negotiations said Wallace will sign a six-year deal worth $57 million. The sixth year of the contract will be Wallace's option. He also can earn bonuses worth as much as $2 million each season.

Wallace's contract with the Bobcats, who obtained him in the NBA's expansion draft in 2003, expired at the end of last season, and he briefly became a free agent.

Damn, at 9M/per, that almost sounds like a bargain considering the other ludicrous contracts floating around out there.. I really think that he was the free agent that has the most future value, and the 'Cats locking him up for that long really looks like a dynamite move to me. That team SHOULD make a pretty good run at the playoffs next year. 7th or 8th seed for sure, I'm guessing.

Damn shame you didn't have the cap space, or you could of had Darko for only $10 mil more.
