    Default Brevin Knight waived

He always battles injuries, but when he is on the floor he is a very good player that would help the team.

He also probably would not come to Indy.

I'd offer him at least the vet min and tell him he can win the starting job if he beats out Tinsley.

Bobcats waive veteran guard Brevin Knight

CHARLOTTE (AP) — The Charlotte Bobcats waived veteran Brevin Knight on Friday, leaving the team without a backup point guard.

Knight had a buyout clause in his contract worth $1.5 million. He was scheduled to make just over $4 million next season.

Knight was one of the Bobcats' first free-agent signings and started in the team's inaugural season in 2004-05. The Bobcats drafted Raymond Felton with the fifth pick in the 2005 draft, and he eventually replaced Knight in the starting lineup.

Knight averaged 9.1 points and 6.6 assists per game last season, serving as Felton's backup and occasionally playing shooting guard in a small backcourt. But the 31-year-old Knight, who has been injury-prone throughout his career, was limited to 45 games last season.

GET HIM NOW! I'd love his defense on this team.

For him to be waived, makes me wonder what lingering injury could he possibly still be fighting ? Other than that, he is certainly worth taking a chance on.

    Why Not Us ?

I could see the Spurs taking a chance on him.

Knight is a real solid point guard. He defends and runs the team well, makes up for his lack of outside shooting.

    Perfect excuse to bench Tinsley.

Did I hear JMV say the Pacers waived Orien Greene?

I think we should take a chance on him. Hell, Larry has even publically stated they're looking for a backup PG. We should do this. He'd be the clear (and worthy) backup to Tinsley. I'd love having Knight in that slot rather than depending on Armstrong or Greene (both make excellent 3rd options though; Larry wants 4 PGs anyway).

Well according to Fast Eddie, he said the Pacers just waived Oriene Greene.

    Coincidence?

A dumb move by Jordan if you ask me. Now Charlotte has to look for a backup point guard.

SO you're saying we should at least get 41 games started a piece from Tinsley and Knight

    Why Not Us ?

I think the Pacers HAVE to make a move quickly for Brevin. As already posted, even if he's not the starter, he's more than an adequate backup. Personally I'd like to see him start. He may be a bit short which could be a liability on D (but who are we kidding... Tins isn't exactly a stellar defender), but he's proved that he can run a team, makes good decisions, and passes the ball well. He's always in the upper echelon of the league in assists. Plus he's lightning quick compared to Tinsley. Larry, grab your phone, NOW

I love Brevin Knight and would be thrilled if he was on the roster. I know we cant count on him for many games but the games he can give us would be great.

Besides Jamaal is going to miss about 15 to 20 games just sit Brevin for when Jamaal is injured and Jamaal should be back about the time Brevin goes down.

Brevin was a solid PG for Charlotte. I've seen many of the games here in Charlotte with him.

The Pacers should definitely talk to him and if there are no lingering physical issues, they should grab him.

There's also been speculation that Steve Francis will be waived.

Doubt he would come to the Pacers, though.

when you get waived and signed to a vets min you don't go to a lottery bound team out of the goodness of your heart. you go to someone at least playoff bound (see eddie jones, jalen rose, chris webber, etc. etc. etc.)

the question would be does a contender want him? i'd guess houston might pick him up as a cheap backup. maybe dallas?
    This is the darkest timeline.

Is this a buyout or a waiver? Because if he hits the waiver wire it's totally different picture on who can get him. I don't recall the rules on the waiver wire at this point of the year, at other times it goes 2 weeks (which is when the Pacers got Greene).

However, the key is that if Knight is going to the wire first before being a free agent then some teams get first dibs on him...teams that have cap space or perhaps a TRADE EXCEPTION that can handle his current contract, which he would keep IF he was picked up off waivers. He doesn't get to say yes or no if he's on waivers, it's not the same as being a free agent (at least as I understand it).

And weren't we just discussing the TE the Pacers still had from the Al deal?

Unless something is seriously wrong with BK this is a non-brainer to me. Heck, I was trying to get him and the CHA pick for JO, so I'd definitely bring him in for free. He'll give you way more than Army did last year (other than pure energy at least).

Francis would be a buyout and would become a free agent. He wouldn't get pulled off the waiver wire with his current contract. I think dropping him now would be more costly than it would be worth. Better for them to see what they can get out of him, especially if you think his time in NY was a wake up call.

I think Knight sounds like the perfect PG to go to the Knicks and get the ball to Randolph and Curry a combined 30 times a night. Almost too logical of a move for Zeke though.
