This is a bit offtopic, but is this the last TNT broadcast or are they doing Finals games this season?

ABC is doing the Finals. TNT is done for the year.

I'm already looking forward to their first broadcast of the 07-08 season.

Cleveland was the better team and deserved to win the series, but tonights game reminded me of when the Pacers were down 3-2 to the Knicks in the lockout shortened series. They had to go to NY and win the 6th game to force game 7 at Indy. That fourth quarter was the worst officiating that I have ever seen in an NBA game (with Knick Bavetta in the crew, the refs made sure the game did not go back to Indy for game 7).

I thought the Pistons got some bad calls go against them tonight which might have not affected the final result but affected their momentum. The offensive foul on Rasheed was definitely a flop by Varejo. I am not sympathetic to the Pistons because they got their fair share of calls over the years but just my observations.

    5 straight ECF appearances!

    We're dooooooooomed!

Dumars will suddenly stop being a good GM, blow the whole team up and tank into mediocrity on the strength of Y2J's hopes and dreams!
Hey, if you're fine with just ECF appearances, more power to 'ya.

But without some serious changes, I don't see the Pistons going further than that anymore with this team. They can easily remain a playoff team, but I wouldn't vastly overpay for Billups at this point. And I very much doubt Dumars will. That's what makes him a good GM.

Um, getting to the ECF means you're in the mix to win it all. I'll take that every year with a smile on my face.

why does "serious changes" always go hand in hand with letting chauncey walk? Since when was that set in stone?

Dumars can re sign billups AND make other trades, you know...

I'm assuming Chauncey is going to want a huge payday, ala Ben Wallace. And I can't see Dumars paying him that kinda bling.

If they can reach a reasonable compromise, Chauncey will stay.

Either way, Detroit needs to make some changes, because this is the second straight season they couldn't even get to the Finals with four All-Stars and HCA.

What do you think the Pistons should do? Stay pat? If they make any changes, what do you think they should do?

Again, people assume that Milwaukee will go after chauncey simply because they can. I've heard nothing to suggest that THEY are going to break the bank for him either.

I'm not saying changes won't be made, but I doubt Chauncey leaves. There isnt a team out there as hot for him as chicago was for ben.

Players of the caliber of Billups do not grow on trees. Dumars has no choice but to over pay. He might not get all the value for the money he pays Chauncy but atleast for the next 3-4 years, Chauncy will be good. Also, bringing someone new instead of Chauncy will drastically affect this team which depends very much on their chemistry rather than on individual talent.

All they need is a backup point guard and a backup shooting guard. They have a glut of big men who they can unload to get a backup guard.

Also, NBA teams are not structures made of Lego blocks where you can breakup and rebuild over one off season, whenever you want. Just IMHO.

Yeah, it kinda depends on the draft. If Conley falls to them, they won't pursue Billups.

But the point I'm trying to make is, do you think the current Pistons are good enough to return to the Finals with a legit chance to win? If not, are you content with just raking up ECF appearances every year?

I rather make the ECF then lose in the 1st round thats for sure. the problem with the Pistons have been there coaching.

Larry Brown was there coach for 2 seasons and hes done more then Flip has done thus far.

I don't confuse not winning the big one with being UNABLE to win the big one.

If that was the case, the Colts should have been dismembered years ago.

I think we can make moves to make this team better. I don't buy that we have to scrap everything and start from scratch. That's the easy way out.

TNT follows up their final game of the NBA season with Cradle 2 the Grave?

Whoever made that decision needs to be in the unemployment line tomorrow behind the Cavs clock operators.

Usually teams who blow it out don't contend for a long time. same can be said for my Lakers.

My teams sucked for a couple of years now. That pain of realizing your team just doesn't have it anymore is long gone. But it's just begining for Piston fans.
