Congrats to Mal and Cobol Sam!

So - did anyone sing "That's What Friends Are For?" at the ceremony?

You life is not complete until you've heard someone sing that song off-key at a commencement ceremony.

Thank God, no. I only went to the commencement for my college. We were graduating 4 including me. I'm just thankful to be done with school now. 6 and a half years at Iowa State was too many for me.

Congrats. Lot of hard work went into that. Welcome to the rest of your life.

Going to go back to school in a couple years (either of you)?

This was my "going back". I don't think I'll ever be interested in a PhD... but you never know.

I am getting married on the 26th and starting the job hunt. I'm pretty excited!

Yeah, Cobol! Congrats on getting married.

Are you moving first, then getting a job, or is it job then move? Or are you staying put?

We are moving back to my home city, then I'm looking for a job. She already has one with the Department of Human Services.

    Are you guys married men?

Cool - Yeah, I'm married coming on 4 years. We've been together 6. Doesn't feel like it, though. We still feel like we're in that early "living together" phase. I hear that doesn't really change until you bring kids into the picture. Thank goodness neither of us want to do that - except we're also business partners, which is a lot to juggle.

Too much information maybe, I just asked about the moving part because that was always the best part of school and the leaving school. The fresh start is what it's all about.

I love moving to a new city. Probably won't happen anytime soon for me, but give it 5-10 and I hope to either be in New York, Hawaii or overseas. Just have to bring current plans to fruition and make it happen.

    Here's to luck!

I'm going to try to find a job opening where I live. That's my priority, and after that I will look into chipping away at a Master's degree in the coming years; either through summer, night, or online classes (or a combination).

Congrats to everyone on their good news!

Wow Mal - you've had PD up just about as long as you've been in school.

Went pretty well. The main one with everyone lasted about 20 minutes overtime, but was fine. Gov. O'Bannon's widow was there; nice to see and hear from her.

It was a little chaotic in between the main ceremony and the Teacher's College ceremony; they didn't bother to tell us where we'd be going or waiting during the transition, so we were all left kind of wandering and wondering off to the side while people cleared out to go to their respective places for the smaller ceremonies.

Met up with some family afterward and ate lunch at Panera Bread. They have great I.C. Mocha's, by the way.

They didn't actually give us our diploma on the spot, so I'm trying to figure out when it will be mailed or otherwise available. I'm thinking/hoping it's just a matter of a couple weeks. They hand you the leather sleeve or whatever it's called as you walk across, but the diploma isn't in it.
