This poll is going to be very homeristic

I am sure people on the Det boards are doing the same thing but "Pistons in 7" for them.

This should be a great series though...I can't wait. It has been too long...

I just pray two weeks from right now I am at Conseco Fieldhouse watching game 7. If it goes 7 games Pacers will win. Home teams win the 7th game 84% of the time.

Pacers will have to win a road game to win this series because the Pisotns will win a game at Conseco.

If I have to bet $10,000 on this series I would pick the Pacers in 7 games.

But the Pistons scare me.

Yeah, but home teams also lose 16% of the time.

Keys for the Pacers to beat Detroit:

-Rebounding, rebounding, rebounding. Pacers cannot get outrebounded like they did against Miami or they will not survive.

-Stop Rip from getting hot. The Pacers MUST help Reggie on defense. It wouldn't hurt to have Reggie give Rip a taste of his own medicine on the other end either.

-Al and Bender must perform consistently well off the bench. Both must be able to score and defend if the Pacers are to advance in the next round. That's including making free throws (I'm looking at you, Al.)

-AJ must be able to handle Detroit's traps. Otherwise Rick must play Kenny. And I hope he doesn't wait until the Pacers are down 3-1 to make the adjustment. AJ has to keep the offense moving as well. If not, Rick really needs to play Kenny.

-JO and Artest need to show up every night.

-Tinsley and Reggie have to be able to sink open jumpers or the Pistons will be able to safely collapse on Jermaine.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Pacers in 7.

Rebounding is huge.

But I look at these series maybe a little differently

When the teams are even, and I think the Pacers and the Pistons are even. You have to win the games you can. What? What I mean by that is this, the Nets were not going to win the game tonight, they played bad and the Pistons played great.

There are 4 games already decided in the Pacers v Pistons series. I have no idea which games. But whoever wins 2 out of the 3 close games that could go either way, that will decide who wins the series.

A team cannot make up for a loss that should have been a win. Like the 4 point play game in 1999, Pacers could not overcome that.

Take first two home games. One game will go right down to the end. Pacers must win that game. The other game the Pacers will win by 8 or 9.

I still don't see any way the Pacers can win this series. They're just plain overmatched in almost every aspect of the game. And the more I watch the Pistons demolish the Nets the more I'm convinced.

Pistons in 5.

I am going pacers in 7

The thing that concerns me is Detroit's backcourt scoring , I think our froncourt matches well but the backcourt scares me and as you can see billups and hamilton can light it up.

To be honest, I'm surprised you didn't pick the Pistons in a sweep.

Anyway, the Pistons have dropped a home game in each round. If we take the first two we should have it in the bag.

Pacers in 5

This series might not be as competitive as y'all think After watching the Pacers eliminate a very determined Heat team (that exposed every single weekness the Pacers have) on their floor in 6 games with nothing more than sheer will I think the Pacers are going to the final.

If the Pacers can hold serve at home the first two game's (I think these two are really the most important - the Pacers have got to win them) and can steal one in Detroit (which I think they are very capable of) this series is over in 5.

OTOH, this is all speculation, I'll take a Pacers trip to the final wether it be in 4, 5, 6, or 7 games ... GO PACERS!

IMO Who ever wins game 1 wins the series, and the odds are in our favor for that.

Game 1 is so important. Pacers have never won a playoff series when they lost game #1.

Question: who guards Ben and who guards Sheed.

J.O does not block out well, so J.O would stuggle keeping Ben off the glass. However if J.O does guard Ben, he will be closer to the basket and will be in a better position to help out and block shots.

I would guess J.O. will guard Sheed, but it should be interesting.

Foster guards Sheed. Foster is a smart defender and is quick enough to guard Sheed on the perimeter. JO should guard Ben in order to stay out of foul trouble. Although if JO gets out-rebounded constantly then they should switch up.

Wouldn't hurt to have Bender and JO hover in the paint at the same time either.

I sure hope the Pistons are as confident as you are. Because they'd be in for a big surprise.

JO will be on 'Sheed. No reason to waste his post defense skills on Ben, since the Pistons should never run a post play for Ben anyway. And you couldn't even lure them into running a post play for Ben if JO is guarding him. Maybe they'll be foolish enough to try that against Foster.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

In all seriousness anyone who picks either the Pacers or Pistons to win in 4 or 5 games just is not being realistic

I would not bet $20 on the winner of this series. But I would bet $1,000 that it will go at least 6 games.

Pistons in 6. Realistically.

All Pacer fans know it deep down inside that the Pistons match-up way better with Indy than New Jersey.

IOnly match-up the Pacers have is SF and Larry Brown is able to take that away if he goes with Wallace Wallace Okur.
