    Default Mike Brown,anyone?

Ive been hearing alot lately about Mike Brown being fired by the cavs after this season. What would you think about bringing him back as a head coach?.I always thought Mike was a pretty sharp guy.

But if Brown gets fired and Rick gets fired how much would you bet that it was almost be like a trade,Cavs get rick we get mike.

What do you think about Mike Brown?

What has Mike Brown really done in Cleveland to make him a good choice for us?

He's gotten them to play defense really well.

Mike gets a ton of criticism from local and national media for his offense (much more than Rick does)

If Lebron wants Brown to stay, he'll stay, if he doesn't Brown is gone. Simple as that

Isn't Brown the one who threw a punch at the prone tubby that JO floored? Seems to me, he threw a sneak punch in on the helpless guy on his way out. It takes a real stand-up guy to pull a stunt like that. Was he ever disclipined? I don't know....I may have the wrong guy.

Cleveland doesn't have an identity, and much of the blame is really on Brown, he's the cheif of the squad

But the squad sucks. Danny Ferry is their GM, right? He should be the one getting the blame. All those moves he pulled in his first summer sucked then, and still do now.

I wouldn't say they suck. Look at what they've got to work with...

    Megastar - LeBron James
    All-Star Center - Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Solid 2nd Option - Larry Hughes
Good Role Players - Varejao, Gooden, Marshall, Pavlovic, Snow

About the only thing they're missing is a good point guard.

Anybody see the game today early in the 4th quarter, where Mike Brown basically called a timeout, and said "what do you think we should do, LeBron?"

Um, Mike, you're the coach. If LeBron has to do your job for you, what are the Cavs paying you for?

    Are you serious?

I'd love to have Mike Brown back...as an assistant coach.

I agree the role players are good, but having Z and Hughes as the 'main' guys, with no PG? That's a bad roster. I never really agreed w/ them paying so much to both Hughes and Z.

No, I have never seen/read/heard this before, and I don't buy it for a second. I'm surprised no one else has chimed in already. Mike Brown didn't do anything wrong on 11/19.

Not too mention Hughes hardly ever plays for them.

And ditto on Mal's comments regarding Mike Brown during the brawl. I certainly remember him as one of the classier persons this franchise has had the last 4 or 5 years. Good defensive coach who also kept SJax in line when he came here.

Personally would LOVE to have him lead the defense as an assistant coach, like Shade mentioned, but ehm... headcoach, I dunno. I have to be convinced for that one.

That, alone, may get him canned.

By the way, if that "What do you think we should do, LeBron?" quote is true, I never want him as the head coach of my team. That's just sad.

Wow. Big Z is certainly not All-Star caliber in the least, I don't know how you can possibly say that. Hughes is essentially a smaller version of Jack (and if I recall correctly, you spewed off some garbage in another thread about how he's a bad player).

It's a team full of role players that is constantly compromised by LeBron's wishes and he does literally whatever the hell he wants.

I went back and watched for a few minutes after Cleveland's timeout early in the 4th, and didn't see or hear anything. Regardless, I see a pro coach asking his star player for input as a positive, not deferring to him. And it should be noted the play they ran resulted in Eric Snow getting a layup and fouled.

Btw, the Fever's first year, the TV picked up Ann Donovan asking her assistants, "What do you think we should do?", followed by them both saying "I don't know." And Donovan is easily one of the best coaches in the league.

Maybe, just maybe he was being sarcastic. Perhaps LaBron was chiding his play-calling or something a bit earlier.

The timeout came after Rasheed started beating up Varejao and Marshall in the post to start the 4th. I have it on DVR.

The sideline reporter gave a complete recap of what went on in the Cleveland huddle, and basically Mike Brown was out of ideas and asked LeBron if the Cavs should double down on Rasheed or stay in single coverage, being quoted

LeBron replied by saying basically that the guards shouldn't help on Rasheed and the big guys should just play better man-to-man defense in the post. I was speechless.

It came around the 6 minute mark of the 4th.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Not that I'm comparing Mike Brown to Norman Dale or LeBron James to Jimmy Chitwood, but if Norm hadn't listened to Jimmy when he said "I'll make it" we wouldn't have all those inspiring clips they show at games.

Okay, I found it (while Sheed is shooting FTs with 5:45 left, for those playing at home).

The reporter didn't say Mike was out of ideas, she said they were trying to get on the same page, on if they should double team, where the double team should come from, and Mike said, "What do you think LeBron?" LeBron said, "Look, right now, I agree we should double team, but it's also about one-on-one defense. Our Bigs have to step up...", then said they've got the perimeter locked up, and if they can force Sheed to kick out they'll be fine, but the Bigs have to step up in one-on-one situations.

I got the impression that it was a fractured huddle (understandable after Sheed hits 8 points in a row), and Mike was trying to build a concensous, and possibly knew his star would rip the Bigs for him.

That is what I recall too. I don't see why anyone is making a big deal of that.

Man, the guy has had how many season as a head coach? Just cause his first job dont work he is a bust. If that was the case, then Larry Brown would of never got his ring. Or alot of coaches that werent champs RIGHT AWAY would of ever got their rings.
