Default Arenas done for the year

Gilbert Arenas will need season-ending surgery after an MRI revealed a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee.

The surgery, to be performed Thursday, is expected to sideline Agent Zero for two-to-three months. He will only return this season should Washington make the NBA Finals, a major stretch with both Arenas and Caron Butler missing. Antonio Daniels now has assured value for the remainder of the season, so pick him up immediately. Apr. 5 - 12:20 pm et

Butler is gone and now Arenas. Looks like Washington is done for this year.

BRUTAL news for the Wiz. He's about as important to them as Kobe is to the Lake show.

Too bad. He's fun to watch.

Does this bode well for the Pacers? the Wiz upcoming games....

    Cleveland
    New Jersey
    New Jersey
    Miami
    Atlanta
    Chicago
    Orlando
    Indiana

    The Pacer's upcoming games

    Charlotte
    Boston
    Philadelphia
    Milwaukee
    Miami
    New Jersey
    Atlanta
    Washington

This may change the outcomes of a few games. The Wiz have a healthy diet of Eastern playoff teams/potential playoff teams on deck. The Pacers are only three games back from the Nets who face a handicapped Wiz team twice and Orlando gets to feast as well. This could change some seedings.

Ouch....talk about bad timing.....Arenas getting injured in the last month of the Regular season is very Pacer-esque.

Hilarious. Teams will now be jockeying to try and get to play Washington in the 1st round. We could see teams purposely losing in order to drop down a seed to get them in round #1. It's like an automatic trip to the 2nd round. Washington without Butler and now Arenas might be the worst team in the league.

That's terrible. Gil is one of my favorite players in the league, and I know he would've brung it in the playoffs this year. Sucks for the Wizards fans especially. Maybe Antawn has a couple of 50 pt games in him.

My guess is that Toronto, Detroit, and Miami already consider NJ, Wash, and Orlando to be virtual walks in the park.

If we assume that the Wiz are not going to be able to maintain their 6th seed, then those 3 teams would have to WIN games to jockey to take on the Wiz. With only 8 games to play, 6 separating the top 3 and 5 1/2 the bottom 3, ain't much jockeying room anyway.
Don't thank me, I'll kill ya.

That is awful, I don't know which is worse, having a Pacer team that is horrible due to bad trades and management decisions. Or being a semi-contender like the wizards and losing your two best players to season ending injuries.

I suppose the Pacer team that is horrible is worse. Because I just don't see much light at the end of the tunnel. It seems like it will be bad for the Pacers for 4-5 years. At least the Wizards can come back just as strong next year.

Maybe the Wizards have some young talent that will step up the rest of this year and make a good run. That is how players make a name for themselves, injured stars and the oppurtunity for minutes in crunch time.

That's pretty much every fan's worst nightmare. I hope we rest as many starters as possible once we clinch.

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

I think it's gotta suck worse for Washington fans. At least we've been bad for a long time-we've known we weren't going anywhere for a while.

The Wiz were going to give somebody a series in the first round. This kind of news is like a kick in the gut.

It'll be interesting to see if the Wiz are still better than the Pacers even w/o Arenas and Butler.

That's got to be frustrating. You're on defense and Wallace is on the other side of the court, far away from you and in 3 seconds he lands on your knee. Well the Eastern Conference wont be as much fun without Gil.

That's got to hurt, for Arenas fans.

I realize the Pacers did nothing to prove themselves vs NJ and ORL last week, but the NJ game at least was a travel game and the Nets were at home after 3 days off IIRC. That one was a game that you had to worry a little bit about, and then JO didn't play either.

But the hard road is now officially over with the passing of that Detroit game. With the Wiz losing GA and Butler this effectively puts all sub-500 teams on the schedule to finish out except for Miami, and that's one of the few teams the Pacers have beaten and might be trying to sort out what to do with Wade's return when we catch them. Maybe he'll come back to soon and play poorly ala JO.

The schedule says the Pacers should make a serious run the rest of the way. Can they man-up and make good on that?

BTW, what do the Wiz fans get out of this season more than what Pacers fans do? Maybe a low seed first round elimination? Blow it up, trade GA, fire the coach, change the uniforms and fire off a new slogan.

Good question. You have to think at the very least 5-3 to close it out. It's there on a silver platter. Fantankers will not be pleased.
