I think they will fall out of the playoff and Bird will still keep Rick. In the off season Bird will trade more athletic players for slow white guys.
Cool....I have always wanted to see KVH and Michael Doleac in Pacer uniforms.

Since 5 total wins will get us 34 wins...and a .416 % winning percentage ( which should get us the 8 to 10th worst record in the league .....I will go with 5-15.

Im sorry to everyone..but I hope we go 0-20...Just to get us a good draft pick.

In my heart I feel that is our only chance...

But we will probably go 8wins 12loses

I think Oden will probably stay in school, shaking up this draft. I'm not so sure I wouldn't want the 2008 draft pick. It looks a little more guard-rich than this one. I think we're ok in the front court; it's the backcourt that kills us.

While I don't know it for a fact, I have no doubt Oden will come out. He's still a potential 1st pick but he's actually slipped a little from where he once was. Playing another year in college will just give the scouts more time to pick on any weaknesses or question marks while some unproven 'shooting star' talent with 'potential' catches their eyes.

And Oden's wrist injury HAD to be a wakeup call. An injury can happen anytime, anyplace... it's better to have your name on that NBA contract BEFORE that happens.

I can't imagine anyone advising Oden to stay in school. He should've legally challenged the NBA's rule of waiting a year and came in THIS season... altho I am glad he didn't challenge it because he's an exceptional case. Most GM's can't keep their hands out of the cookie jar and so ultimately it is better they get an extra year to follow a kid. But just because it's better for the NBA doesn't mean it's 'right'.

    ...strictly my opinion....

Never knew they were your second favorite team, eh, I should have guessed that, you do spend a lot of time here.

I hope we somehow find a way to get through this hell-hole.

Do you think we can turn it around and at least make the playoffs?

Honestly I hope Bird or Donnie see the light and if we just end up being somebody's sacrificial lamb into the 2nd round than why bother ffs just tank, we've been in the playoffs something crazy like 16 out of 17 years let some other team have the glory of being made some 1 or 2 seeds b****.

You might say it's better for the franchise to make the playoffs and the players don't want to lose like they have been losing. However considering the options are as follows: get embarassed and sweeped in the first round as opposed to calling it a season and try to get the highest draft pick you can get in the draft?

It doesn't take a genius to figure out what is the better option. It's been made a point that nobody wants some lottery pick hot shot kid to come in and steal minutes and money from somebody but that's EXACTLY what I want to have happen. When you start hitting them where it counts($$) maybe they'll get off their bum asses and learn how to play defense or improve their game while bringing in competitive guys with a coach that will actually reward said person for outperforming the other person.

If they loaf and pout and cause problems off the court OH WELL they become expendable. Right now Jamaal I believe doesn't perform on a consistent basis not because he is incapable and streaky, I think half the problem is Rick and the other half the problem is he has nobody that can compete for that spot and maintain it. So Tinsley just half-asses most games instead of the very select few that come in either small bunches of 2 or 3 or they come few and far between where he plays phenomenally, and he knows he's never going to get benched cause there IS no other option that is better.

That being said I sure hope we lose the next 20 games in a row I don't care if we break the record for longest consecutive losing streak in the entire NBA. All will be forgotten if we start performing well next season, it's the nature of the beast that is the media they'll kick ya when you're down but they'll quickly save face by complimenting you and how fantastic your team is and so on and so forth if you turn it around. Look at the Knicks for example

Second round? I think, especially IF we get the 6-8th seed we'll be a sacrificial lamb in the first round .

He meant we'd be somebody else's stepping stone (sacrificial lamb) on -their- way to the second round.... not the Pacers making it to the second round.

Shot down in flames. Meanwhile Shade rolls on.

    3-13 @ Minnesota - L
    3-14 vs. Washington - L
    3-17 vs. Atlanta - W
    3-20 @ Houston - L
    3-21 @ San Antonio - L
    3-23 vs. Miami - W
I had them with 2 wins by this point on their way to 10-10, so I don't feel too bad about my guess so far. We'll see how the next 5 play out.

Even though I picked us to beat Miami, I didnt think we'd hammer them like that.

Here's to hoping the rest of it plays out as I predicted.

True, but honestly I thought he sounded more optmistic at this party than at the last one. Dare I say sunshiner even?

Sersiously, right now I feel much more confident with the team the Pacers are putting on the floor for April this year than I did about the one they were fielding last year at this time.

This version seems to be actually getting their feet under them and stabilizing finally since the trade.
