Critters was cool too, although the sequels were a bit of a stretch...I can believe tiny space aliens who eat human flesh have come down to Earth virtually unnoticed, but once they start forming a huge ball and rolling over people leaving only skeletons behind, that's where I draw the line.

That movie scared the crap out of me when I was little and caught it on TV.
I think it was supposed to be a comedy of sorts - I didn't understand this until I watched it recently. Either way, Gizmo is the man.

A bunch of us got together to watch that - I think I was in college at the time. It was kind of bizarre - multiple sequences of comedic killing - like with the science teacher, microwave, etc.

Plus we were all disappointed when Phoebe Cates didn't repeat our favorite Fast Times scene.

The first one is more "genuinely scary" than the second one (by a mile, actually).

I didn't think the Science teacher death was meant to be funny.

Still, it's all more tame than they originally planned; when Billy gets home after they've hatched, originally after he opens the door, they throw his mother's head down the stairs at him!

We rather enjoyed their demonstrating that they didn't care for liver.

Liver? All I remember is an apple being tasted.

Nah - the guy gets dragged under his desk, starts screaming, you hear, "Yum-yum" with chomping sounds and all of a sudden, "Yuck" and a liver gets chucked on top of the desk.

I think - it HAS been 20 years.

Do people realize that most of the footage from Faces of Death is fake?

I don't know if most people know, but yes other than the actual news footage the FOD films are fake.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

Nah, you've got it messed up in your head. I've seen that movie more times than I care to admit, and most recently within the past year. The Gremlin tries to eat an apple and a glass beaker, and of course doesn't like either one. The teacher gets a candy bar out, offers it underneath the desk, starts screaming, then they cut to something else. Next time we're in that room, we find him dead with a needle stuck in his buttcheek.

Gremlins clearly deserves its own thread...

I still don't understand why they didn't sue the makers of "Furby" when it's clearly a second-rate rip off!

To comment on what this thread was started about The Decent. It wasn't that scary. It was okay but I really was never scared. Really though I thought Hide and Seek was scarier and it is not that scary. So for the most part LA maybe it scared you but the scariest thing ever, hardly.

I'm not sure the Descent needed 'monsters'.... It was pretty scary just being down in that cave. Could've made for a nice psychological thriller.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Especially when the main character is a nutjob. Could've had HER killing everyone in some macabre way. Which she sort of got to by the end of the movie anyway.

You guys wanna see a scary movie, check out Nails. Its a Russian movie, so it might be slightly hard to find but it will be worth it.

I thought "Hide and Seek" was pretty predictable and unimaginative. "The Descent" was WAY better, just my opinion, offcourse .

Didn't find "The Descent" very scary, but it does have that same sort of feel to it that I got with "Aliens", hard to define, but it appealed to me.

When I was six my parents took me to Time Bandits. I had nightmares for weeks, and it still gives me the heebie jeebies.
"They could turn out to be only innocent mathematicians, I suppose," muttered Woevre's section officer, de Decker.

"'Only.'" Woevre was amused. "Someday you'll explain to me how that's possible. Seeing that, on the face of it, all mathematics leads, doesn't it, sooner or later, to some kind of human suffering."

What I was saying was that Hide and Seek wasn't scarey and neither was The Decent. I like the twists that a couple of you have come up with maybe we should all get together and film "The Decent 2: This time it won't suck." You know what would we should do is start a thread and post what we think would be the story line for a horror/thriller movie.

The worst movie ever is Nail Gun Massacre. Nothing else even comes close.

Frankenhooker and Hell Comes To Frogtown (Rowdy Roddy Piper FTW) are pretty bad, too.
