Default Optimistic about Harper and June?

Alright - I think if we can get through one more week of no news on these two I am going to actually think we will keep these guys.

I think we need to keep both - I am so sick of free agency gutting our D.

Does anyone have any GOOD news about these 2?

Well June is supposedly visiting the Giants but it is his first trip and offer so far this year. I expect the Colts to resign him.

However, Harper is close to signing a contract with Minnesota.

Yeah, it'd be nice if we could get them back and actually start adding to the defense for once, instead of another year of makeshifting it, filling in holes w/ young players (or old ones - big Rob M!).

I'm not worried about Harper with Marlin Jackson and Hayden to fill in, but I don't know where the Linebacking help will come from. Kiaho played ok in limited time this year, but we'd have Morris, Bracket, and Kiaho and that does not give me a fuzzy feeling inside about our LB core.

Depth is a concern for sure, but the Colts are very high on Freddie K. The guy hits like Sanders which is a good thing, but the D can't afford to have another guy miss alot of time without adequate backup.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

Like I said, I don't think this will be a problem. Jackson and Hayden played awesome in the playoffs, and I they have to get starting roles eventually.

    Honestly, no
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Gilbert's been a real enigma. If you remember, in college, he was best as a pass rusher. There were many times he'd have his hand on the ground. You don't see him used like that much here.

And in coverage, he's never been that good. In the Capital One Bowl against Georgia, Mark Richt continually called screens for backs to test the outside linebackers. Both he, and Landon Johnson, struggled with that because of the Dogs' speed.

So why the Colts thought he fit well into their version of a LB, well ... ... I dunno.
