Still in the 7th spot. I'm not one to think we can't compete with lebron james...Pacers Vs Lebron would be a good series...ohhhhhhh wait the cavs! yeah no one on that team is good...But we would be looking at JO Vs Lebron anyways. Playoffs arent out of the question...how long is JO going to be out?

I'm so excited, I cant wait to see Dunleavy and Granger try to guard Lebron.

We should petition the league to allow us to play both of them at once as a combined player if you will. We could call him Danny Dunleavy...of course, adding the two together would make one of the worst defensive players of all time.

I looked at the schedules of the Pacers, Magic, Knicks and Nets. And I think 36 wins will get a team into the playoffs. If the Pacers go 6-15 they will have 35 wins

Good grief. 35 wins. Uggh. It still wouldn't suprise me if the Nets and Knicks finish ahead of us though.

One small point: there are 22 games left, so 7 and 15, which is realistic, puts us at 36 wins. Hate to pile on the East, but the East is awful.

The Nets and the Pacers have the toughest schedules the rest of the way. But the Nets are getting Jefferson back and I think they should be the best of the 4 teams to begin with. So I think the Nets will get in with about 41 wins. That leaves the Pacers, Magic and Knicks fighting it out for the 8th spot.

You are correct sixthman, Pacers do have 22 games left I miscounted. 6-16 is a very realistic finish though

Regardless, we are not looking at a top 10 pick, are we?

    We'll have about a 1.5% chance of getting a top 3 pick

I still think we'll finish with 40-41 wins.

I just hope we don't have to play the Pistons or Wizards in the first round. I don't like losing to either of those teams.

What's our chance of winning a championship?

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Come on single ping pong ball, do your stuff.

Somebody put it in the freezer first, or put stick-em on it, whatever the trick is.

I just bumped the Schedule thread to discuss this situation in detail. I think 38-39 wins might be the break point.

The West has the 4 elite teams, but their 8-9th situation isn't a lot better than the East right now. They also have 2 sub-500 teams in the playoffs right now, and the way things are going that doesn't look to be changing soon. The Warriors are even still in the playoff hunt, and Sacto, Minny and OKC.

Heck even the Lakers are taking the lumps I said they would when their friendly schedule of NOV turned nasty in the last month or so. .500 for them isn't all that far away. They just went 3-7. If they go 3-7 again they will drop to .500.

    Yeah, of 2%.

I wonder how much I would be willing to pay to see the Pacers just miss the playoffs and still end up with the #1 pick. That would be the greatest draft lottery off all time.

If that happened and we got Oden, I bet our attendance would shoot up a healthy margin. That kind of thing would qualify for the "wow" factor I talk about.

Not even close. If we lose every game the rest of the season, we're looking at a top-3 pick and a 50% chance at either Oden or Durant. If it were up to me, I'd go for it.

Fact of the Day - the Pacers have cut the distant between themselves and a top-10 pick in half in the past 3 GAMES. Everyone who still thinks its impossible or even unlikely is 116% WRONG. We're 3 more loses away from being right there with the Wolves. And with Quis and JO now being out, I think it's highly likely we'll finish somewhere between #7-#10 on the season.

When it comes to lottery picks, Minny is the "10 seed". They are 27-33. We are 29-31. That's two games for the tie (not sure about tie breakers). And we play them once. So if we hold the tiebreaker (or the tie loser, I suppose), we only need to lose one more game than them if we tank the Minny game.

Exactly. At this point, with the way we've been playing and with JO being out, I think the odds of us landing inside the top-10 are much higher than us actually making the playoffs.

Anyone who thinks otherwise surely must be in denial.

Everyone is saying with JO out we will be worse off... I actually think they will be better.

Face it, the feed the post strategy does not work very well in the nba these days. At least it doesn't with JO. I wish he was willing to play another style. I can't think of any other nba team that actually plays through the post anymore. Maybe Houston with Yao, but hell, he is 7'6". San Antonio maybe, but they go through the post alot less than we do. There must be some sort of reason... hmmmm

What's sad is we got rid of all the guys who would play well in another offense to build this team around JO and his post game.

I think Tinsley Danny and Murphdawg will all play much better. I expect them to win at least 50% of the games with JO out. Enough to sneak in the playoffs. If Marquis comes back in good form we could actually win more than 50%.

I haven't seen Peck much lately but I'm starting to think he was right in his post after that toronto game where JO gave up on the offense at the beginning of the season.

I wish JO would have tried to stick with the new offense, or even better I wish our coaching staff would have had the balls to tell him to deal with it. But in typical fashion they bowed down to his wishes.
