    Rudy Giuliani campaigns in Indy

    By Matthew Tully

Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani will be meeting voters at Shapiro's Downtown today.

    Giuliani visit details

What: Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will meet voters at Shapiro's Deli Downtown

    Where:Shapiro's Deli, 808 S. Meridian St.

When: Today March 7th at 1:00 PM
The former New York City mayor is here at the invitation of Marion County Prosecutor Carl Brizzi, who is hosting a fundraiser for the presidential candidate tonight.

Brizzi is inviting voters to meet Giuliani at 1 p.m. at the restaurant, 808 S. Meridian St. The candidate arrived in Indiana from California at 4 a.m. today.
Tonight's fundraiser is expected to raise at least $200,000 for Giuliani, who has emerged as a leading presidential candidate.

He has long been praised for his work in New York following the 2001 terrorist attacks, and for cleaning up the nation's largest city during his two terms as mayor.

Many have also questioned whether his left-leaning views on some social issues will hurt him in the Republican primaries.

For Indiana, Giuliani's appearance is somewhat unusual. In a state that holds its primaries long after Democratic and Republican nominations are settled, visits from presidential candidates are few and far between.

It would be interesting to know what Guliani's approval rating is for Indiana. He's sure lapping the field nationally. But there's a lot of dirt in his past that will get slung once things get serious.
