Look, first of all i will say that i always stick with this team whatsoever and i will keep doing that... but im also one of the few here who is very realistic and say what i feel and see sometimes in honest words, so here it goes.
Ok, this team simply sucks, sorry to say.... there is no talent whatsoever, im tired of people in here making so many threads and blaming on the Strategy the Pacers are playing, Coaches, Pacer staff, Players and i am even more sick of people saying "This team has no heart" or "This team has no Intensity"... why cant people just be realistic?
I mean, what heart and what intensity!? Almost every pro bball player has heart and intensity, but you are forgeting something to go WITH it.... TALENT!! And there is absolutely nothing wrong with this team mentally or something. They just simply have no good talent!
Then about the Coach Rick Carlisle, i think that he is an excellent coach.. as a basketball player myself i will say this... a coach doesnt lose a game no matter what he does, its the players. A Coach gives you an oppurtunity to do your thing, then its all up to you.
Ill continue talking about the players. Only one that can play here is JO and i feel very sad that he is in a team like this, he doesnt diserve this and im sure he feels the same way to... I dont think he is a leader and his talent relys heavily upon his leader. What a leader means for me is simply a playmaker or just a player that can guide and carry his team out of worst scenarios at times, a player that simply makes everybody around him better. Sure some might feel that JO makes this team better, but there is a difference.. JO scores and defends, thats what gains a team chances to win... i dont think that helps teammates play better.
The other one with a Talent is Danny Granger. He is a good small forward, he looks good & young & athletic enough and thats what is fooling most people to think that he will be something huge in future... yes he will develope but he will not be an all-star if you think so, he will be at best a 14-19 ppg, 7 rpg, 3 apg, 1-2 spg, 1 bpg SF. The thing whats stopping him from developing is simply that he is a 100% Finisher, he cant create a play, he cant create anything, he isnt a playmaker. Players like him rely extremly heavy on how their point guard is.... he will shine if his playmaker shines. With other words, a perfect player to have by your side on the starting lineup if you are a good playmaker. If you dont have a playmaker like that then he is just a wasted talent, or in a team like the Pacers have he will continue being just another mediocre player who is sometimes ON or OFF and if Pacers dont make any changes he will be like this his entire career. And JO will also shine even more if his playmaker shines...
Rest of the players just are in between of the line where it says Mediocre (inconsistant) above and Bad under. I cant say anything positive about them but i can say very many bad and negative things... so ill skip that part since i will probably be flamed by some rare fanboys maybe, but it might be to late to avoid that after they read this.
Last but not least, how do you make a team like this better? Its very simple to say... bring in a REAL point guard or bring in a SKILLED point guard. Trade away those weird players the Pacers honestly dont need for example Shawne Williams, Darrell Armstrong, Ike Diogu, Jamaal Tinsley, Orien Greene, David Harrison, Keith Mccleod, Maceo Baston and even "Quis" for ONE or TWO or THREE players they NEED! In purpose to build a team that FITS around JO & Danny aswell.. most importantly a point guard would very much help. I dont care if it will be a 7 player lineup, but if it is effective then go for it!
Which point guard? What players? What? Who? When? I dont know..... but once again, its easy to say stuff like this. I am just a fan, sure its fun to talk about stuff like this, but i feel like since i dont have an impact on Pacers then there is no need to have a fantasy... i just shut up, spectate and cheer.
