Im gonna have to disagree with that. We have one all-star surrounded with a bunch of decent roleplayers. To be contenders, you pretty much gotta have 2 star-calibre players, preferably one in the backcourt and one in the front. Danny might develop into an star-calibre player on but that could take awhile and Im still not sure thats gonna happen. As the team is currently constructed, we are an average team talent-wise and that is reflected in the .500 record.

I agree though that it is frustrating to see the guys go out there and not give the effort. Thats been a trait of our team for a couple seasons now unfortunately. The players just don't believe they can win and I don't know how this problem can be fixed. Maybe if we got that 2nd star player the team would start beleiving in themselves again? I don't know...
We are not championship contenders but this team does have talent. Granger,Daniels,S.Williams,Diagu are all very talented players who should provide energy of course ,Williams and Diagu rarely play an Daniels didn't play the first 2/3rd of the season.Foster,Murphy and Dunlevy are solid role players. In the East this team should be good enough to battle for 3rd or 4th best record and nights when they play with energy you can see why but far to often they play like an old team.

The most concern I have is this team doesn't try to play defense.Thats different then saying we're not very good defensively. Sure we don't have the greatest defensive players but then again M.Jackson/R.Miller combinations wasn't great either but they tried there best. This team doesn't put its best effort on in that end of the court.

Good synopsis of what's happening. I personally find the trend from your 2nd graph the most disturbing. Say what you want, but this game was Toronto all over again as far as effort. Even in the first quarter when we actually were ahead it was painfully obvious that the intensity still wasn't there. Thus, you knew a dropoff was coming.

I mean really. Our backcourt can't defendy and all, but we still basically lost to a two-man team. Throw on us trying out best to choke away the win against the Bucks and you have the recipie for a team in regression since the early post-trade results.

Agree with all that opine Rick has to go. He's got to be at least a major factor in the lack of energy. As long as we're on him, and I hate to beat the proverbial dead horse here, but Maceo Baston? I suppose we were maybe trying to match down to them? Jeff and JO only guys playing with purpose? Frankly, I'm just dumbfounded. I had this idea that guys who produced earned themselves some amount of increased PT. Call me old fashioned I guess.

    I've already criticized him a little bit, but the poster child for what is wrong with the Indiana Pacers will continue to be Jamaal Tinsley. How many more lazy passes are you going to throw? When are you going to have some pride and refuse to let your man torch you? We get it, you hate playing for Carlisle and his boring offense. Of course Tinsley fails to realize that playing like horse**** makes him difficult to deal. It's a win-win if he were to play well and allow "Good Jamaal" out of the house for a couple of months. Short term we'd win ballgames and in the summer we can unload our final problem child. {Now if Carlisle is moved upstairs and off the sidelines, I'd be willing to keep Tinsley around and see what he does with a new coach----Mark Jackson?}
He was +5 in the +/- last night. He must've done something right.......

Magic Rat, you don't miss a trick. Do you? The most interesting thing about the second half was Scott and I sneaking by the gate keeper/usher to get into the club level from the balcony.
But did you pick up any of those $10 dollar Jackson or Cabbage jerseys.

I'm sorry the Mrs couldn't help it.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

Maybe now we can make a push for Bibby in the offseason. He had quite the audition last night.

I was stuck in a snow storm in South Lake Tahoe for 8 hours.....barely picking up the Kings Radio feed. Before I lost the radio feed....the Pacers were up in the 1st QTR....and then was able to listen again after the Kings were up by 2 in the 3rd QTR. It sounded like Bibby and KMart were killing us from the perimeter.

    What happened?

Did the refs hand the game to the Kings?

    or

Did we collapse much like the infamous Celtics game earlier in the season?

    Also...was Marquis out?

Marquis aka Bender II didn't play. (We desperately need this guy healthy if we want to win games)

We blew a golden opportunity to be up by about 15-20 at halftime. Anytime we tried to break, we'd turn it over. Other than Bibby, the Kings looked like they could've cared less in the 1st half. Sadly, we played with no energy either.

Kevin Martin joined Mike Bibby in the 3rd and they just blitzed us. Tinsley would just foul Martin everytime. Somehow we were still in the game until the very end of the quarter when Sac made us commit about 5 staright TOs and converted with buckets to bury us. They went to this half-court trap thing and our backcourt was McLeod and Marshall. It was riveting television.

Thankfully, I had things to do and missed quarter #4.

You all saw Jermaine right? At the end of the game while his teammates walked off the floor, he sat there and stared. I KNOW he had to be pissed off. Carlisle looked back and told him to "Come on", and he just sat there. Bird looked down and Jermaine, and he just sat there. I hope he calls this team out badly tonight.
I wouldn't be surprised if JONeal does call them out on it in the lockerroom and they end up playing play very well over the next 2 or 3 games with some passion....then go back to the same old cr@ptacular play that we have seen over the last 2 games.

That's just the way this season has gone and something that I fear won't change anytime soon.

Interesting read so far. Unfortunately this was one of the few games I got to watch. With out Quins we really really need Granger to be aggresive and punish the defense for triple/double teaming the post.. this was not the game for Tin's to decide not to take shots but I gues he's still feeling the heat last time he took all the shots when we were missing Quins..

just as a side note... 3rd qtr 4.26 left. Tins already on the bench DA goes to the bench for Mcloud. After Martin finishes his ft's we score on the offensive board score 68-65. we trade baskets .. (mcloud leaving Bibby wide open for a three as he doubles a cutter to the lane score 71-67. Rick subs more.. now line up Marshall, Foster, Dunleavy, Baston and Mcloud.... not your steller line up.. Dunleavy by now is cold after starting hot and Marshall and Mcloud can not seem to manage to bring the ball up court and start the offense. With out JO on defenese Martin drives at will...

DA comes back in the game again while martin finishes his FT's ... DA gets a TO and we have the infamous fast break off the side out a bounds play for the dunk... Rick furious.. (a little late in my mind) and we are down by 15 after the 13 point run with less then a minute in the 3qtr... game over with JO being the only perosn on our team this game with any ability to score... you do realize our total shot output during the 13 pt run.. Mcloud our defensive specialist taking two shots.. one blocked.. and jeff foster with his normal failed offensive put backs and two missed ft's...

Reason we lost... Only one real offensive threat all game.... JO... and the Marshall/Mcloud experiment as back court to hopefully supply defense total infective and worse fed there offense with fast break points on turn overs...
You didn't think it was gonna be that easy, did you? ..... You know, for a second there, yeah, I kinda did.....
Silly rabbit..... Trix are for kids.

Man, I didn't know I was missing out on a caper when I didn't join you.

an Daniels didn't play the first 2/3rd of the season
Who was that guy wearing his jersey then? He could have seen some more time I'll agree, but he was a part of the mix prior to the trade too. He had one sudden drop that he slowly (in mpg) came back from, but generally his PT hasn't been too inconsistant.
