So if we had to unload Danny and Marquis to get rid of Jamaal, would you do it? Probably not unless we are getting a very high quality player in return right? Is Richard Jefferson, a decent sized expiring and a solid point guard with plenty of potential and solid defense enough for you?

I think the Lakers probably do this deal. I could see Quis being a pretty good player for a coach like Phil Jackson, and they get their man in Jason Kidd without having to give up Bynum. Obviously they get much smaller and that would have to be adressed.

The Nets get great return for 2 or the big 4. They get the guy they should have drafted in Granger. I think Rod Thorn would take a chance on Tinsley, him and Marcus Williams would probably get along. Imagine the Nets with a team of Tinsley/Carter/Granger/Odom/Kristic. That's a pretty scary and more balanced lineup then they have now.

Says the guy that posted JO for KG...

Of course it won't happen. It's speculation. That's all we do in this thread. I'm curious how Pacers fans would react to a trade like this if it happened.

What a dumb trade for us to do. RJ is barely producing more than Danny right now, not to mention Farmar doesn't excite as much as he did during the draft.

the way i see it danny has a much bigger upside than jefferson, no reason to swap danny unless we're bringing in a superstar G / F. the deal as its proposed would trounce us. we lose our two best playmakers in daniels and tinsley and our best outside shooter for farmar and the oft-injured Jefferson and Mihm. yeah his exp. contract is good, but you're tanking the season and getting rid of two really talented young players (granger, daniels). Farmar would be the only one able to play immediately, Mihm is out for the season and there isn't a date for jefferson to return. yes we would get rid of tinsley, but we would only give up on granger if it could significantly benefit the team and this will set us back quite a ways. ( Change in team outlook: -11.6 ppg, -3.7 rpg, and -4.1 apg)

as for the lakers, i don't think they trade kwame this season without getting a big in return (like a foster) because they're quite thin in that department as has been shown by when kwame is out of the lineup. they do want kidd it seems like (though i can't quite figure out why since jackson typically doesn't like pure PGs) and i don't see them giving up odom/kwame for kidd. (Change in team outlook: -9.8 ppg, -7.9 rpg, and +1.4 apg)

new jersey would probably be the only team to think this was a really good idea, their season isn't going much of anywhere at the moment but down. they've gone about as far as they can go with the jefferson/carter/kidd combo. carter will probably leave at season's end so they'd rather make a deal involving him and keep jefferson. but they get odom, kwame, granger and tinsley which would be a great group for them to build around with williams and house and some of their bigs. (Change in team outlook: +21.4 ppg, +11.6 rpg, and +2.7 apg)

so my reaction is, as one team would never do it and a second team would probably never do it, i believe it would never happen. how do i feel about it as a fan? i think it is ridiculous and if the pacers ever made a move like this i would advocate public floggings of larry bird in monument circle (and would push for indianapolis to bring back stockades for bird and walsh) and become an atlanta hawks fan.
