The girl from the clippers looks like she got her start dancing with a pole.

I think his post about the Nets girl was in favor of her (or God I hope it was...). I always did think the drool emoticon looked a bit misleading.

Either way. I'd appreciate it if everyone would be sensitive to the fact that not everyone posting on this forum is a guy. And beyond that, not every guy posting on this forum is in to objectifying women.

I don't think our norms of appropriate conversation should be any different from the norms of a public place, work place, etc.

Mallory's not bad and I remember voting for GeriLyn but ...

I clicked on "Click here to meet Erica" and all it did was open up a web page!

WTF? Where's the online chat room where we can set up a clandestine meeting at some seedy motel?

Come on. If you don't like it then just don't look at it. It's not like there's a porn gallery in this topic. People can be too sensitive aswell about things such as this. We are not in Iran or Saudi Arabia.

What's next? No more cheerleader pictures anywhere? No more game pictures with cheerleaders on it? People are just stating their opinions about these girls. Positive or negative. It doesn't have to be extreme, but IMO this doesn't even touch on extreme.

What you think a women sees this and thinks "WOW! Guys would look at me as a lustobject because I'm a woman!!!"? I know I don't know any women or girls who think that black-and-white or right-and-wrong.

    Just my

Anyway, I voted for the Golden State Warriors girl. That's the type with regards to looks that I really love. Katherine from the Heat looks really great too. Most of them do btw. Guess that's part of the job describtion too.

    Cobol

Out of deference we DID ban suggestive pix from avatars etc. So people didn't have to worry about co-workers/children getting an eyefull during a sudden walk-in.

The specific posts I quoted made demeaning remarks about women based on their appearance. It wouldn't fly at work, it wouldn't fly in a classroom, and it shouldn't fly here. It has nothing to do with looking at the pictures.

To the point that I'm seeing this black and white.. you are the one who had to portray my complaint at its pole in order to refute me. You had to take a slippery slide approach. Stop making demeaning comments about women for the sake of entertainment, thats my point.

Looks to me like she got her start dancing as a dude.

EDIT: Wasn't aware of the moral discussion going on in this thread when I posted this one. But, screw it, I'm letting this one stand, anyway.

Guess what? I'm not at work or at a classroom. I understand there's such a thing as "fair use" and a moral code of conduct, but at some point, you have to realize that not everyone has the same values as you do. To be completely honest, I'd say about 20% of the NBA dancers I see look like they could have been dancers at a strip club at some point. and I'm pretty sure most of them never were, unless they were working their way through college, because dancers are there for money. NBA cheerleaders are there to do something they love.

I think the post you're referring to was referencing more her hairstyle and make-up as opposed to her...what? moral terpitude? And by the way, what's wrong with exotic dancing? I know several women who did it to pay for their college, and many dancers are actually upstanding citizens and have fewer skeletons in their closet than a few people who post here, I'm sure. Maybe you're the one with the problem? Maybe you'd just like to keep women in the kitchen?

You see, we can go nuts with picking apart each other's posts based on our personal likes/dislikes, and turn this place into a garbage heap. Or, you can take note that that particular poster said something you didn't like, or if you find it particularly offensive, type "Hicks", "Shade", or "Able" into the Private Message "To:" field, and say your piece there.

What I'm saying is this: this is an internet message board. You need a thick skin to survive. PD is better than most, but it is what it is.

    Most lame post ever.

Do you suppose that these women spend hours and hours on makeup, fitness, and hair so that people won't admire the way they look?

    Give me a break.

And with such arguments prejudice and misogyny are normalized. I don't care where you are, you are posting in a community that includes women. If you wouldn't sit around and make lewd comments about a woman's phenotype, appearance, or turpitude in front of them, don't do it here. I read this everyday and so do my sisters and none of us think misogyny should be a form of entertainment anywhere.

By your reasoning of "grow thick skin", one could just post anti-black, anti-Semite, or even anti-American comments about people and say to those offended "we don't all share your values, just don't read it if you don't like" I imagine that wouldn't fly. I also imagine any Jewish people, Black people, or patriotic people would have something to say about it too.

Is this anti-woman? Not objectively, but the 4 women in this household reading this forum find it offensive, and that really might be a large percentage of the women in this community.

Who says that exotic dancing is something less than a socially accepted profession? Well go review the postings on this board after the Club Rio incident. A lot of people here find strip clubs to be less than socially acceptable. The post calling the woman a stripper is meant to demean her.

Chick from Memphis - Alien, no human beings forehead is that big. She should look to get that fixed or start wearing a headband. Either or.
Chick from Utah - Andrie Kirilenko with a wig on.
Chick from Toronto looks like Big Bird.
The Chick from the Sixers, her teeth dont fit in her mouth. Her jaw hurts right now I bet.
The one from SacTown is not real, she looks like she is made of plastic. I'm just calling you ladies ugly because I dont know you individually, holla if you hear me.

New Jersey,Miami,Indiana,Golden State,Chicago could all get it. That is all.

Not to get myself into this argument, but I have been to a good number of gentlemen clubs since, mostly since I turned 18 and a lot more since I turned 21. (By a lot I mean 3 or 4 times)

I always had fun, and while I could see why some people would rather not attend I certainly do not consider them “lacking of class”.

    That’s just me, though…..

That's the difference between you and me. I'd be perfectly happy telling a woman who is dressing/putting on make-up that makes her look like a stripper that she looks like a stripper.

Is it better or worse for you if someone is joking vs. telling the bald, honest truth?

My main problem with your statements is that you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth. On one hand, you're very women's lib with your statements about not demeaning women and how your sisters are offended. On the other hand, you view exotic dancing, the *ultimate* form of female empowerment, to be demeaning.

I understand how the statement could be construed to be offensive, but if your sisters are offended, have them make an account and send a message to a moderator. Otherwise, you're just being a drama queen.

Man, I'm almost sorry I started this thread.

    Almost.

Oh, who am I kidding, no I'm not! I'm married and have 4 sis-in-laws, who all read this thread and didn't have a problem with it. As one of my sis-in-laws said, "These girls wear skimpy outfits, pose suggestively, do swimsuit calendars and no one is supposed to make anything but the most wholesome and loving of comments?"

Sorry, but for my money, too, your use of "misogyny" was a bit extremist to me and pretty over the top.

I could see it if guys were writing, "check out that chick, man I'd like to bone her." or "That skag couldn't..." well, you get the idea.

This makes me think of a sketch I saw on MADtv where everytime a co-worker accidentally bumped into this woman or brushed by her in passing, she'd start screaming sexual harrassment.

There's no he-man-woman hater's club here, nor has there ever been and the only reason I'm even reponding is I felt the smallest responsibilty for starting the thread.

Sorry if you feel like these women, who wear skimpy outfits, pose in bikinis, etc, are being "objectified." I can't even imagine how that could even remotely happen.

There is a grey area when it comes to this and I think once you get to know some of these posters better (maybe go back and read some of their past posts to get a better feel for their personalities.) and maybe meet some of them in person, as some of us have, you'll see no harm was meant nor intended.
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?
