I went back and watched a few Regular season games compared to the Playoff games (that's called dedication boys), and the thing I noticed is that w/ Bobby Sanders, we tackle better, but I also think the main reason is that Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis stop going after the QB like a fat kid after cake the second the ball is snipped and take themself out of the play completely. They played a half of a second slower which actually made the defense better if that made any sense.

My favorite part is where people who didn't even go on record one way or another back when the defense sucked (and don't kid yourself -- it S-U-C-K-E-D) are suddenly all "up in my grill" now.
The point was to keep an even keel, not to make stupid predictions. And I didn't respond to your post because sig bets are stupid as hell.
You, Never? Did the Kenosha Kid?

Absolutely. Anyone with eyeballs and/or the Internet could yell that the defense sucked. No kidding.

But football's a weird sport. It's not all about some bad loss to the Jaguars. Like many of the Colts said, it took a lot of experiences to get this team ready for a Super Bowl.

And it wasn't just a yearlong process. This had been building for many years. That loss to Pittsburgh was part of it, as was the scoreless flop in the slop against the Jets years ago.

Maybe it's just me. I was a strange 10-year-old kid who was writing possible third-round draft picks on a white board after a 1-15 season. It'll take a lot more than a streak of bad defense to get me calling for a coach's head.

This year, it came together, finally, inexplicably, blissfully. I won't sit here and write that 'I knew it, I knew, I knew.' I didn't. But I did know that there was a chance. I had seen bits, albeit sometimes tiny, of evidence that a championship was possible.

And it happened. Championships are weird like that, I guess. They'll turn up even if you least expect it.

Reading this thread headline made me think the Colts were signing Terrell Owens.
But an hour or so later, Hibbert wrote on his Twitter account: "Love this coach [and] I love this team. We can go far this year if we play like that. 2night we played our hearts out. Just didn't get the win."

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we won, but this team isn't even on par with last season's team, which didn't win squat. The run defense is embarassingly bad, and Manning is starting to get somewhat inconsistent.

Btw, da Bears are da best team in da NFL, hands down. Yeesh. I hope someone finds a chink in that armor soon. They're just amazing right now.

None of that was wrong at that point in time. Hell, even the Colts admitted this wasn't their best team.

And the chink in Chicago's armor turned out to be their quarterback. And they still made it to the Super Bowl.

The chink in their armor was that they sucked horribly. The NFC is horrible, and the Bears just the least horrible.

THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!!!!!

(As a side note, if any of you have NFL Network, make sure to catch NFL Replay and NFL Game of the Week. Lots of good behind the scenes stuff. NFL Films does good work. They're going to be re-airing the NFL Replay of all of the Colts playoff games overnight Sunday, I think)......

I was just trying to give you a hard time, so I don't know why you're being so defensive.

I'm not. I've owned up to when I've been wrong. But at that time, none of that stuff was wrong.

Yippee! You mean I get to see Herm Edwards do his best Marty Schottenheimer impersonation in an attempt to rip my heart out one more time!? Great!
