I thought I saw somewhere that Baston was going to be starting in JO's place, but that could just be a rumor... as I do read all of the "truths" that come from messageboards. Maybe someone who has more info than me can confirm/ deny.

EDIT: From Mark Montieth: "Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said Maceo Baston will start tonight in O'Neal's place."

I think they'll be okay without JO, but the Pacers are better with him in the lineup (imo). We are fortunate to have a good, deep bench that we can call on when things like this arise.

I'm interested to see how the offense flows, as we have two good rebounding, defending, unselfish players at the 4 and 5 tonight (If it really is Baston and Foster). Should be plenty of shots for the other guys.

ESPN update on O'Neal's injury and Baston starting:

Sore left hamstring sidelines Pacers' O'Neal

    Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana forward Jermaine O'Neal missed the Pacers' game Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers because of a sore left hamstring.
O'Neal leads the Pacers with 17.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game and ranks second in the NBA at 3.1 blocked shots.
"We're hopeful that by addressing this now it can preclude us from having to deal with something long term," Indiana coach Rick Carlisle said.
O'Neal missed 31 games last season with various injuries.
Carlisle said an MRI revealed that O'Neal's hamstring "has the beginnings of a possible tear and significant swelling."
Thirty-year-old Maceo Baston made his first career start in O'Neal's place. He scored a career-high 10 points Monday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.
"He's been giving us great minutes off the bench," Carlisle said. "The matchups tonight point to this being a great situation for him and I like the way Baston's been playing."
Center David Harrison, who has missed 13 games with a sore left shoulder, was active for Friday's game.

Nice start, Al and Jack picking up the slack. Baston looks solid as well. This should be a good game.

Everyone is playing very well. Especially Baston. Wow, he's really active out there. Both Our PF AND our C are boxing out...

Is this the best start to a game we've had this season?

Jackson is playing on another level. This is the type of Jackson we need.

I have always said Jackson should go to the rim a lot more than he does. Nice Jack!

Possibly, but Portland has given several teams that sort of opportunity the last few years.

Nobody blows a lead quite as fast as the Pacers. 7-0 Blazers run in mere seconds.
