So predictable, and yet, still disappointing.

I don't even know why I emotionally invest in the Colts anymore. They are like having a hot girlfriend that never puts out. The ultimate tease.

I wouldn't put it all on him.

I'd put the bulk of the blame on our atrocious defense. And some on our offense for not getting a TD in the second half.

The Colts are now 1-2 in the last three games.

Oh well. At least this will lower expectations to a more reasonable level now. This may be the worst 10-2 team in NFL history. The defense is just not going to allow us to win a championsip.

If we have to pin this loss on any individual, it goes to Dungy. It was stupid of him to use our LAST timeout when the Titans set up for a punt.

At what point do you address the defense both in terms of personnel and strategy? How many seasons should it take?

LOL - after being up 14-0 and with them teetering, you have a lot more than one player to choose from.

But if you are gonna pick one, try Peyton Manning. Throwing a pick to basically hand them a touchdown right before halftime was the single biggest play in the game.

So if I wanted make that sort of statement it would be:

Peyton Manning's interception lost the game.

Amen. If they'd just come out and admit they've failed or at least aren't any good as a unit instead of just denying the obvious.

I'm not sure the system can be blamed as much as the personnel. There are some good individual players but I feel we've let some helpful guys go the past few seasons and, bottom line, we essentially have a defensive roster composed of all DBs, Safeties, and LBs. The only active player who truly qualifies as a D lineman is McFarland. Too much emphasis on speed at the expense of size.

Lots of things cost us this game, but most notably (as usual) was the horrendous defense.

I'm not at all upset at this loss. I totally called it, and it went down almost exactly as I expected. The 60-yarder after V missed a 52-yarder was an interesting twist, but it didn't surprise me in the least.

Seriously, am I the only one who sees the pattern here? "Maximum disappointment." I've been preaching it for years. Get used to it.

That is the play I would pick too. I knew there was a mistake waiting to happen when the Colts took a timeout while Tenn still had the ball and was going run the clock down and kick the FG to make it 14-3. The Colts should've let them burn the clock and kick the FG and then burned clock themselves and took their 14-3 lead to the lockerroom. Not look to save time for a needless 2 min drill (actually it was more like a 1:30min drill) and risk playing into Tenn's hands.

So that said, not only do I blame Manning for that pick but coaching for obviously thinking we should be chasing points in that scenario in the first place (Obviously the sideline has some blame because I'm sure they called for the TO while we were on defense to conserve clock... so they were thinking about our next possession).

In the end if I pin it on one person it's Dungy. Its stupid to pin it on one person and I was half joking with the Vinatieri comment. Peyton would be about the last guy I would blame it one because no matter how much that one interception hurt us his 350+ yards and a td kept us in it and I am one of the bigger Peyton doubters you will meet.

The Colts in the past have engineered quick drives countless times that result in points with just a short time left in the half. Why would they not go for that? How many times does Peyton honestly throw picks in those situation? There was what, about 1:30 left in the half when that pick happened. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The Titans were going to get the ball at the start of the second half. You'd maybe have somewhat of a point if the Colts were going to get the ball.

    The Colts were up 14-3.

None, if they do what they should and take their lead to the lockerroom.

About that. I'm not exactly sure of the time but that has to be close.

I would've been happy to let them have the ball at the start of the 2nd half with the Colts maintaining a 14-3 lead. That's preferable than to a 14-10 lead and giving them the momentum knowing they'll have the ball to start the 2nd half.

Be glad I'm not coaching because I don't risk the lead and momentum to chase points in that situation. If my team is behind... maybe even tied... I do. But otherwise, kill the clock and go to the lockerroom with a nice 1st half lead.

Also... the Colts don't have the defense to make up for mistakes like that which is another reason to control the clock themselves with the lead. Just as the opposing team wants to keep Peyton off the field, the Colt offense needs to keep the Colt defense off the field.

You make good points and I'm sure many football minds would agree with you. It's just that history has shown the Colts greatest chance of winning is when they have a huge lead.

1:30 is more than enough time for Manning and company to work some magic. Manning doesn't throw picks in many of those situations. Of course, we saw him throw a pick, so the call is questioned. But if that works like it has many times in the past, we have a 17-3 or maybe even a 21-3 lead. Given the Colts success in situations like that, I think it was an ok move.

I agree with you. The Colts have to outscore people - if they have a chance to score they have to take it.

They've been successful far more often than they haven't in similar situations. It's just that in this case Manning made a lousy pass and it bit them.

The one coaching issue was the psych game Fisher played on Dungy at the end of the game. I'll have to read some articles to figure out why he needed a TO then.
