And this is where all those ticky-tack calls hurt now, with the penalty in effect.

What a killer. Suhr and Bassett kept us close, and ironically, also cost us big in the end.

That was a tough game for both teams. IU did a great job of fighting to the end. I'm not a big fan of so-called "moral victories", but hopefully the Hoosiers have learned a few things about themselves from this game that will aid them in the near future. After all, UK is only 10 days away.

Hard to complain about losing to Duke by 3 at Duke... and having your chances to lead or tie in the final ticks.

I didn't like the call of going to DJ late in the game. I would've just had him crashing the boards and letting one of the other guys take their shot at it. DJ 's just not got it going on yet. I don't know if it is rust or the added weight... or just mental... but he's not the same player.

I don't really know what to say other than I am proud, but am I the only one that feels like we may have been the better team?

Awesome first half to the Bucks/UNC game. We look fantastic. 8-13 from behind the arc so far, and we are running the hell out of the Heels. We are clearly a far superior team, they've just hit some timely shots and kept it close.

    48-44 Bucks at the half.

Disappointing. I can't wait untill Greg comes back. December 16th is the day he'll play. Mark it down.

Either you're really good, or have a contact.

I know Greg's bestfriend since his Terre Haute South days, and that's the date that they have penciled in for his return. We're all supposed to go to the game that night.

And yes, I have proof that I'm not just making this up.

Don't go counting those chickens is what you learned last night. Far superior you are not.

    I marked it down.

Wow, that was fun today. I couldn't take my eyes off Greg at all when he was in. He does so many things to impact the game. I think he'll lead the league in offensive rebounds his first year in the NBA. He's so great at finding a man and boxing him out, no matter what. Even the Oden we saw today who was only at about 65%, it was clear that he will never be out hustled for a rebound. He is very smart in the way he uses his body.

I'm very, very excited. Just imagine if there was some rule that you had to play all 4 years in college before jumping to the league. LeBron James and Greg Oden would be on the same team this year.

OSU plays Cincy in two weeks on CBS. Time is still TBA, I say we move the forum party to whenever it is on and invite everyone who says Oden ain't gonna be anything special.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Purdue won! Of course, they had to ****in' push, so I didn't win anything. Goes to show you the refs weren't on Vegas' payroll, or else they definitely would have called that foul with 1.0 remaining.

Ok, so let's just start losing every game, trade pretty much everyone, and pick Oden in next years draft. Damn, I'm good.

But seriously, he was really impressive.

Lebron's top two college teams were North Carolina and Notre Dame.

LeBron has said numerous times that he would have gone to Ohio State.

I'm not going to search around for a bunch of links but there is one.

He visited OSU, North Carolina, Florida and Duke. Never even went to Notre Dame.

Well thats great but I remember checking scout.com the day before he entered his name in the draft and his top school was NC and I remember for a fact that ND was on the list. What he says now is really a mute point especially when the thing you are bringing was three years later in front of a partisan OSU crowd on the campus. On top of that the only reason Oden went to Ohio State is he wanted to go to a program where there would be no doubt about who was top banana. So if LBJ had gone to OSU and stayed til this year I doubt Oden would be there now.

Yup - we actually resemble a basketball team this year.

That's not really fair though - we resembled a basketball team last season, just one with all the top players in street clothes.

Oden chose OSU in part because Davis showed little interest in Conley. They made it clear that they wanted to go to the same school together and Davis tried to just get Greg.

Here's a blurb from a Jason Witlock article right after Davis was fired.

Question is, where does Mike Davis land next? Who will hire him?
Davis' recruitment of Indianapolis' Greg Oden -- known as the 7-foot LeBron James -- was nearly comical in its execution. Oden, an Ohio State commit, was part of a package deal. He was going to commit to the same school as his point guard teammate, Mike Conley. And Mike Conley was going to commit to the school his father, Mike Conley Sr., felt most comfortable with. Conley Sr., the Olympic triple jumper, coached the boys in AAU basketball.

For Davis, the recruitment of Oden should've been simple: Offer Conley Sr. a job on the Indiana coaching staff. Oden is that good. Oden, Conley Jr. and Conley Sr. form a better package than Danny and Ed Manning. If Conley Sr. didn't want a job, at least convince the father that his son is a critical piece to IU's future.

Instead, Davis was initially lukewarm about recruiting Conley Jr. Davis targeted Chicago point guard Sherron Collins (a Kansas commit), and someone on Davis' staff even managed to send mail intended for Collins to the Conley household.

Indiana never made it on Conley Jr.'s list of schools. Oden listed Indiana as a possibility, as a courtesy. Davis had no shot. He never developed a meaningful relationship with Conley Sr.

good god!, that is soo pathetic and sad that it's funny (and i am an iu fan).
sending material to the wrong guy. no wonder conley jr. never bothered- i wouldn't have either. well, at least davis is gone and can coach to glory at uab before he goes to coach in the nba as he had said on a number of occasions while at iu.
