Thread: +/- line up

  1. #1

    Default +/- line up

According to the plus/minus rankings, the most effective Pacers line-up would be DA, Sarunas, Granger, Baston and Oneal
I don't know if these guys have ever played together, but it seems like this would be a very good combination of guys to have on the court as they would certainly be able to rebound and move the ball around.
(im not saying this should be the starting lineup)

It's not clear. Maybe they could play good for 10 minutes, but we don't know, if they could play effective a longer time.

Da and Saras play about 14 min, Baston only 3 min in 4 games.
Da, Saras and Baston usually don't play against other teams starters.

    Too many questions.

yeah, overall i really would like to see Baston get more minutes. I really think he can be effective with his rebounding, shot blocking and abilitiy to run the floor and finish which is probably superior to JO in that respect.

I'd like to see that line up, too. We're in a strange place, too good to make drastic moves such as playing this line up for extended periods of time, not good enough to win too many games. You'll see this 5 only if we start to tank.

Because he has looked as overmatched as Powell when he is out there, and Powell is a guy they'd like to develop at least.

Baston is Jeff on offense, minus the great rebounding. If the team wasn't so deep they'd love to use him I'm sure, but right now he's definitely "extra" that they don't need. There is nothing he adds that someone ahead of him isn't already doing.

he's a rookie in the NBA, a scumbag from Europe, so unfortunatelly your hopes are deffinitely too high. if you're not a top star the first year in the league will be like that.. "darn rookies must know their place" (man, how I hate this "we're in the army" stuff!). and btw, of course his playing time is insufficient to judge his performance by any stats (good or bad). +- should have a playing time average minimum applied..

I don't see him looking overmatched at all. In fact I thought he did a very good job in the pre-season, Powell did as well btw.

Also I just don't see how we are deep at the position he is playing. Maybe if we actually decided to use big men instead of constantly playing small framed 6'7 -6'9 guys we could see Powell & Baston on the floor. At least a few min. a game.

I also wouldn't have my feelings hurt if the Pacers cut back on some of Jermaines & Als min. Maybe 3-4 less min. a game would help extend their seasons a little bit. Then maybe we could see some of the other guys.

Well... that's what they are getting by not using him... "Least development"

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

    Are you enjoying yourself?

    Why even post here?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Sorry Peck, but I obviously can't agree. He doesn't look lost and drowning of course, and at times like many guys overmatched he finds a familiar spot and makes a nice play, but generally he looks like he is thinking about the game when he plays because he hasn't been in the NBA situations enough to feel it.

I haven't pulled video on him for examples, but I'm sure I probably could. That doesn't really have any merit in a debate I realize (kinda just "trust me"), just saying that I feel confident about seeing specific moments that I think I could find if I had the time. Of course perhaps I will get the chance and will owe you an apology when nothing really shows him "overmatched" (subjective even with video of course).

Kestas is just posting like a troll now. Just because a fan of the NBA has a list of argumenative reasons why the NBA isn't crap or all one on one, and why some Euro players really shouldn't get more PT, it doesn't mean that fan thinks that being a Euro means the player will automatically stink.

Plenty of GREAT ball has been played in the NBA by Euros. Just like some great ball has been played by Duke players. But Grant Hill doesn't mean Bobby Hurley "just needed a chance with the right coach".

And while this is about Baston, not Cabbages, I will say that Sarunas has not seen really any full court pressure in recent games at least (maybe vs CHA? or has there been any?) and when he works out of the PnR and has his shot falling he is a VERY effective offensive player for the Pacers, something they need.

If EVERY game looked more like the Cleveland game no one would complain about him at all. Of course the same is true of Tinsley, who had an even more impressive night. It's not Euro vs USA, except when a Euro fan makes it that way and the locals (like me) get bent out of shape about it and start debating it that way.
