Someone must have forgotten to tell Blazers center Jamaal Magloire that he's in the final year of a contract that pays him $8.3 million this season.
Acquired from the Bucks in a trade over the summer, Magloire was slated to start in the middle for Portland. But he played so poorly during the preseason that Joel Przybilla will start at center, and there are already rumblings that Magloire might be traded before the All-Star break
I'm sure that there will be teams interested in Maglorie.
While the game is geared to go away from traditional centers like Maglorie, he is in the last year of a contract that will pay him 8 million dollar this season. That is 8 million reasons for every team in the NBA to have interest in him.
Besides that, no one can deny that Maglorie is one of the better centers in the league. Maybe you think he is a little overratted, but Maglorie is still a solid center who will give you a double double and solid defense. He has value.
The Grizzles are the obvious choice for Maglorie to land. I think they have expressed interest in him many times before. Could they make a deal something along the lines of Maglorie/Miles for Swift/Cardinal/Big Jake or Cash? I'm guessing the Blazers will try and dump Miles with Maglorie.
Could the Spurs make a run at him? They couldn't offer to much, maybe Eric Williams and Fabricio Oberto and a pick?
I don't see the Pacers going after him. The only reason we would make a run at him is for the expiering contract. But really we don't have what it would take to get him unless the Blazers take Stephen Jackson which ain't happening. So for all you Maglorie haters don't worry about him coming to Indiana.
Well, Knight is a great PG to have because he gets a TON of assists and few turnovers. He can't shoot, but he's not the only one.
Magloire is toast.
Brevin Knight, ever since he was in college, really bothers me for a stupid reason. I hate the way that he runs down the court really upright. Both he and Okafor do this. That, and that fat traitor May, is why I hope the Bobkitties continue to suck.
But this thread has nothing to do with any of this. DO NOT GET MAGLOIRE!!!!!!
Harrison is better than Magloire right now and will only widen th egap in the coming years.
Keep slo-was-a-glacierMagloire far, far away from the Pacers.
If we suddenly decided that we absolutely had to move Jack (i.e., one more incident), Magloire would be a decent target. I'd be fine with mags as a third-string center for when JO goes down or we play Shaq.
