I'm trying to decide if I can make any predictions until I'm certain of our final roster. On one hand, if it's just a cut of one of the new guys then it shouldn't be too hard but what if the team really surprises us and does some trading? Or keeps Edwards instead of one of the Dallas guys?

Guys, I think we're losing Bball, slowly but surely.

Hicks - your seeding is all messed up. A division winner can't be worse than the #4 seed under the new rules.

Take the 3 division winners and the best 2nd place team and then reseed the four of them by overall record. 5-8 are as normal.

I also wonder if a few people forgot that rule change when they put some of the weaker division champs as the #3 seed (such as Denver at 3, Spurs at 4). If you really think they will have the better record then okay. I was just wondering.

    R.O.Y. Rajon Rondo

    M.I.P. Shaun Livingston
Rondo is why I have Boston doing better than some other do. I think Adam will be too much, but Rondo looks like a steal early on.

And I can't believe that someone besides me had Livingston for MIP. He finished strong last year and I think he was already highly improved by that point, it just didn't show in the numbers since it was late in the year. Cassell could see some injury time or at least reduced PT due to age, giving SL the playing time needed to make the jump for this award.

On paper, Indy's easily the most improved team in the conference this season, combine that with top-3 defense and top-3 coaching, and it's surefire sucess.

Compare that to a team like the Wizards which actually got worse this season by losing its only good defender.

    wrong - Bulls

We picked up Stevenson and hired K O'Neill to coach the defense.

We still have the best scoring trio in the NBA - we have no players in legal trouble, we don;t have a 30 yr old sophomore who can't play either guard position, we don't have nagging injuries year in and year out.

Bulls were improved I'm sure, but I doubt as much as Indy. Ben Wallace isn't what he use to be, PJ Brown is a pretty bad player at this stage in his career, and I doubt an undersized rookie tweener can replace Tyson Chandler.

    Tinsley > A. Johnson
    Quis > Freddie
Big Al >>>>>> 50 games of Peja

Thats 2 major upgrades to the starting lineup, and one of the best 6th men in the league.

Stevenson is garbage and Kevin O'Neil blows, hence why he's always being fired. And the icing on the cake is, nobody likes him.

And arguably the worst defense int he league. And Gilbert Arenas is a lot closer to Steve Francis than Dwyane Wade.

No, you've just got a 31 year old bust who cant play either guard position despite 9 years in the league.

And yet you still can't get more than 42 wins.

42-40 Wizards + No Improvements + Losing Their Only Good Defender = 40-42, 1st roudn exit, at best.

Biggest Disappointment = Saras (unless you're already dissapointed enough)
Yeah, I almost didn't put him because who expect anything from him at this point. He already disappointed in the preseason. Still I figured we'd go by off-season expectations.

BTW, as I mentioned in the Sonics/Kings (Earl loses teeth) thread, watching Kevin Martin reminded me that he is perhaps a better choice for MIP than Livingston. Martin looks poised to go Rip Hamilton on the league and could drop 20+ this year with no Bonzi around.

It's not the stats from pre-season, it's how he's been doing it (and how he started clicking last year). I mentioned Rip because Martin has the set diverse set of scoring moves. Turnarounds, pull-ups in the lane, off all sorts of dribbles, cutting off screens for catch and shoots, spot ups, face up spin and shoots in the low post (how he caught Watson in the face).

He looks lethal from just about anywhere, and it isn't from a lack of defense (again, ask Watson about that). Martin, like Rip or rookie Adam Morrison, just has too many scoring comfort zones to be totally denied. He'll always have a shot available that he can make and feels comfortable taking.

His only problem might be getting Artest to let go of the ball.

So we're pretty much in agreement that LBJ is going to be the MVP and a championship rematch is very possible. COTY is really hard to guess but at least we're in agreement that Pacers > Wizers .

Off Topic: Miles, very ambitious but I'm afraid some other pretty good guys are releasing this year.

To be fair to Robertmto, the Wizards do have ONE NBA championship and back-to-back finals appearances.

To be fair to Jermaniac though, those happened before Robertmto was even born....

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.
