Perhaps if we simply got rid of the second center spot on the roster we could cut our draft time by a round, which, at the rate we're going, could save us a week or so...plus, two centers are ridiculous!

This gets a definite "no" vote. Many people in this draft (including me) reached a bit for their centers because they knew it would be hard to get two of them. It wouldn't be fair to those people since they downgraded the overall talent of their team to upgrade that specific position.

Yeah but it is kind of stupid to have 2 centers. I'd rather have one but 2 isn't going to bother me.

Going by that logic it's also stupid to have three guards and three forwards. Imagine that!

    Totally agree.

So, what's the final word on the draft?

I said earlier that you can't start a league without full rosters. But if I remember correctly, my football league this year started with each team having an open roster spot, so we might not need to autodraft. If we start it up tonight at about 5 with all free agent players on waivers (so that no player can load up on free agents if they get to the page first) then I would be cool with that.

    If not, this works:

I say we stop at the end of this round (with LoneGranger33's first pick) and autodraft the rest. At 6 pm, if LG33 (or somebody in front of him) hasn't drafted yet, we start the autodraft anyway.

Yes FlavaDave is correct. When you start the league without full rosters, it places the remaining players on waivers for I believe two days. This means that whoever is first on the Waiver wire, and I'm not sure how that is determined, would get first crack at them. They would then move to the back of the line if they used a waiver and whoever was next blah blah blah...

I think this is a good solution because the players who will be available will be role players off the bench. True that sometimes helps a team out a bunch, but it's not like they'll be impact players that make or break your team.

We can do that if Yahoo doesn't have an option to autodraft the rest of the players. Either way we'll be starting up tonight. When LoneGranger makes the final pick of the 11th round I'll go to Yahoo and fire it up. Good luck everyone.

The last person in the initial draft order is the first up on the waiver wire, so make sure you enter the draft order correctly.

Will you cut it off at, say, 6 PM if it doesn't go that far?

And if you cut it off in the middle of the 11th, you might consider editing the waiver priority to start with whoever was next.

Thanks for being on top of this.

Ahh, so that's how the waiver works. Well I already have the draft order set right in Yahoo so I guess that means that LG33 will be first on the wiaver wire. And yes I'll cut it off at 6pm, which is 4 and half hours roughly from the time of this post.

And I may make an executive decision and make kshay's pick for him in the interest of moving this along sometime here in the next 45 minutes or so.

OK, here's the deal. I have started the league and the rosters are set with the draft results listed from the other thread. However, and I did not know that this was going to happen, Yahoo says that our league will start on the games played in Week 2. So now, we really have until Saturday night to complete our draft. I can still edit everyone's roster until then. So keep picking everyone. And I'm sending this message out in a PM too in case anyone misses it.

Yeah I thought it was weird too and I apologize for not noticing that it would happen sooner. There was a message indicating cut off dates and such in the fine print of the commissioner tools section and I didn't see it.

Yeah don't worry, when the games start counting for us I'm sure you can cut Odom's production for you in half, and add it to Kobe's for me.

    Exclamation Re: Draft discussion thread

Hey guys I need to let everyone know that I'm gonna be away from the computer for a while because my wife and I are having a baby. It's a bit unexpected, her due date is the 19th of this month but we had an appointment today and the Doc decided to induce her. As far as the draft, when it comes to my turn just go ahead and skip me, and I'll catch up my picks and edit everyone else's roster when I can. So within the next day or two we'll all have a brand new Pacer fan to welcome into the world. Thanks for understanding everyone.

I will be AWOL as well - away from a computer for the next 4 days. I have sent Rexnom & Travmil a PM with my preferences if they are around to make the pick for me. Otherwise, I 'll just catch up when I am back.
