Maybe we could PM Travmil our preferences if we know that we are going to be away from PD for a while. Say a list of 5 names ranked in order.
I'd make it more like 10 names ranked in order instead of 5 but yeah I'd be willing to do it that way too.

Well, instead of waiting a few hours, I've been sending a pager message to the person who's on the clock as soon as I see that the previous pick has been made. This seems to be helping a bit.

When is the last day to put teams on yahoo before the season begins.

If you are going to do the 12-hour rule, make sure you eliminate the hours of midnight - 10 AM, because it's not really fair to punish people for not picking while they are sleeping.

Oh, and I didn't pick Bryant because I think he will miss time with injury, and I didn't take KG because I think he will have a sub-par year.

I'm going to have to take the risk on Amare. He's rated pretty high in fantasy mock drafts.

I would have snagged Amare if I didn't already have Dirk.

Leisure Suit Larry you probably could have gotten Amare with your next pick. You pick again after rexnom makes his two. He would have definitely been gone when it got back to you at the end of the 4th round though.

[edit] Not that I think it's a bad pick mind you, by all accounts Amare is back and as good as ever, plus you get PF and C out of him for fantasy purposes [/edit]

Oh and BTW I took Dwight Howard because I didn't think he'd make it back to me in the middle of the 3rd and the kid is a rebounding machine. He's a 20 pt and 20 rebound threat on any given night. And on top of that he gets a decent amount of blocks. I considered both JO and Amare for my pick, but Howards rebounding was awesome last year and I think he's got a good shot to improve in every facet of his game this year.

Travmil breaks out the first shocker of the draft. The guy's got guts.

What stats are you expecting out of Kirk?

I won't be able to access a computer until 7...I'll try to get on around 4:20ish, but I doubt I'll be able to. I mean, 4 people have to pick between now and then before I'm up, so I'm not really worried, but just letting you all know...

With Deng, Gordon and Nocioni on offense, and Ben Wallace giving them more possessions through his rebounding, I expect the groups offensive production to go way up. Who better to pass it to those guys than Kirk? This doesn't even take Tyrus Thomas into account. If he is good and becomes a reliable target, look out. Plus Kirk gets a fair number of steals, hits a few threes, and even rebounds pretty well for a PG. Don't forget the guy has career averages of 14.6 ppg, 6.5 apg, and 3.6 rpg. If he improves in those areas, and I think he will, I got a steal.

[edit] And I didn't think it was that much of a shocker. His average draft position is about 39-40 on all major fantasy sites. I took him a bit earlier than that, but I don't think he'd have been there when I picked again. [/edit]

Here's what I propose. We'll get through as many rounds as we possibly can, and then, the day before the season starts (Oct 30th), I can make the rest of the picks automatically based on the big board at Yahoo. This way, we'll already have all of our impact players picked. I figure we can get through 10 or 11 of the 14 rounds this way. I think this solution makes the most sense, but I'll of course defer to the group. Let me know what you guys think.

I don't like it. It's the late rounds that make or break a team.

We could have a chatroom draft the night before the season starts. If can't make it/doesn't show up, you can autopick for them.

    How's that sound?

While I agree with FlavaDave that the late rounds make or break the team (sleepers, etc), I vote for the autopick idea for a couple of reasons: a) it's much simpler and fairer to those that cannot make the chatroom draft and b) some of those sleepers can be had off the waiver wire and trades can be made. The autopick idea for the later rounds is almost preferable because it may encourage more trades (always exciting). I never did like autopick for the beginning rounds, but travmil's idea sounds great.
