    Default Draft discussion thread

It was suggested to start an additional thread for draft discussions, since the other thread is for picks only. Sounds like a good idea to me. This thread can be for every league as well and not just ours. So everyone feel free to discuss the various leagues in here.

My take on our draft so far:

I knew LBJ would go first, but I figured KG would go second. Don't get me wrong, I had DWade last year and he's a fantasy machine. Of course I also had Shaq, so I got the benefit of many of his assists also being Shaq dunks. No real surprises yet though I don't think.

Gotta say, I am overjoyed to get KG at #7. I really lucked out there. Brand at #9 is a nice pick too. Of the others, I wouldn't have taken Wade or Arenas that high... but hey, they are still going to give you great production.

Yeah it was a very tough choice between Kobe and KG. I took Kobe because the points and field goals made are just too much to ignore.

The only other person I might have picked at 2 was Kobe. I didn't really want KG.

I don't think Arenas is a bad high pick at all. He'll do you very well in points, field goals made and steals. I'm pretty sure that the guy who had Gilbert as his number 1 won one of the leagues I was in last year. KG, LeBron and Wade all do well in 3 categories too, just different categories that Gilbert.

Gilbert is a great pick, but gotta watch what you pick after. I was hoping he'd fall, he's my numba 1 (for my draft position).

I prefer picking a bit lower, actually.

I had hopes that KG would be available (at 9!) when he didn't go until 7.

Hahahahaha, more often than not, I choose players I like, even if they aren't the best player available, but I'm trying to break that habit this year (my second year doing fantasy bball)...last year, for instance, I traded away Ron Artest for, well, let's just say someone who wasn't as good as him, after his trade demand...it was a dumb move, but I felt good doing it.

Haha, but Granger should actually be a decent contributor this year considering when he'll go (late rounds). Around 10-12 points, 6-7 rebounds and a block and steal per game...

Would you consider the 5th round a late round? I panicked because I ran out of time - I just selected the name I first recognized.

'Melo wouldn't have made it past me. If he was there I was going to take him, and I don't think he'd have made it until you picked again anyway. I think he's very underrated by the major fantasy sites as they never seem to have him ranked in the top 20 or so.

I know I wasn't gonna get a chance at Melo, but it makes me feel better if I think I was wronged. I have a question for you; can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell?

OK guys it's getting pretty obvious that we won't make it through 14 rounds before the season starts at the rate we're going. As I've mentioned we all understand that folks have stuff to do and can't be glued to their computers 24 hours a day. But it's killing us to go 12-13 hours (sometimes) between picks. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions that might help us speed this up?

Good point, but there is no solution!

Travmil might auto-draft a player for someone who doesn't pick in say... 12 hours. You'd pick the highest ranked player available based on the big board at yahoo or on the nba official site.

I don't have a problem with doing that. What does everyone else think though? I can't imagine that many folks would be very happy with that, especially if they ended up with two or three players they themselves would have never picked.

Maybe we could PM Travmil our preferences if we know that we are going to be away from PD for a while. Say a list of 5 names ranked in order.
