    Ah, what the hell.

Might as well be sucked in to believing for the 3rd time and drink the Kool-Aid.......

It's what makes it fun. Then being totally let down, that's pretty cool, like a roller coaster ride up and down.

    Sure, might as well, right?

Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised for once. Weirder things have happened.

    I wish I could.

I'm here, I've stuck it out, even when surrounded by Bulls fans for 5 years and Lakers fans for 3. Even with no local TV coverage, no attention, no contact from the team to me.

I haven't jumped ship to a local team or a division rival or followed favorite players to new teams. I haven't lost interest. I've been loyal to the Pacers.

But my trust and patience HAVE been shaken. And I'm frankly insulted by the notion that it's ME that has to give more interest/patience/forgiveness/whatever.

    **** that ****.

Asking for a "clean slate" from me after all the hurdles I've jumped to remain a fan is flat out insulting. It's the Pacers that need to give ME something, not the other way around.

I said a few days ago that I was giving each player and coach a clean slate.

Some of you have a different definition of clean slate than I do. It does not mean you everything you read you believe, it does not mean that you believe the Pacers are going to win 65 games and beat the Mavs in the Finals. I take Clean slate to mean that instead of carrying "grudges" against certain players that you start over this season and see how they look this year.

That is what I've done with Saras, Harrison, Jax and Tinsley. All 4 of those players I wanted gone, but I'm giving them a fresh look this season. I also will not, until I see them play, rip them in this forum

    That is all it means.

LA what I've posted so far is not directed at you, but I must say sounds like you've really had it pretty rough out there in LA, I mean you've sacrificed so much. Wow

I'm giving them a mostly clean slate, but not completely so I didn't vote yes. I've chosen to be an optimist this year, and that comes with a pretty clean slate, but I'm not going to forget everything that's happened either.

    Clean Slate

A fresh start; another chance after wiping out old offenses or debts. This idiom often appears as wipe the slate clean. For example, Henry's boss assured him that the matter was finished and he could start with a clean slate, or He wished he could wipe the slate clean, but it was too late to salvage the relationship. This expression alludes to the slate boards on which school work or tavern bills were recorded in easily wiped-off chalk. Since 1850 or so the term has been used figuratively, and it has long outlived the practice of writing on slate.

    Sure, there's a clean slate.

The team has blown a 10 point lead zero times.
Stephen Jackson has drawn zero technical fouls.
Sarunas Jasikevisius has lost the ball moving upcourt zero times.
Rick Carlisle has stalled no fast breaks with the blue card.
David Harrison has given the evil eye to a ref zero times.
Jamaal Tinsley has sat out zero games with questionable medical problems.

    I'm good with all that.
And I won't be here to see the day
It all dries up and blows away
I'd hang around just to see
But they never had much use for me

Hell no, they don't get a clean slate!!

You gots ta SHOW me!! I'm tired of them whispering sweet nothings in my ear, then doing the same old crap. They haven't earned a clean slate.

Stephen Jackson ended the season like he started it: whining to the refs and, well, we know the story. So I give him a clean slate because he says he's going to be a good boy?

Has David Harrison shown me that he's going to quit mean mugging the refs and sulking when he gets a bad call?

Tinsley...how many times has he teased us?

Rick...show me you can adapt and stick with it without falling on old habits and I'll think about it.

I have no reason to give them a clean slate. I'm sorry, but I do bear grudges. They've tricked me into wasting time and money and passion for this team too many times of late.

In order to give someone a clean slate, you have to see that they are making an effort to change. All I've heard are promises and haven't we been there before?

This team is STILL built on a core of Stephen Jackson/Tinsley and Rick. All
we've done in my book is surround the problem children with better scenery.

End of last season I said that we need to either lose Rick OR clean house of our knucklesheads. We've done neither.

Clean slate?? Naw. You have to show me that you're going to change. What's the cliche? Talk is cheap.
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?

HAHAHA - Oh yeah, I was crying about it while I was sunning myself at the beach the other day: *sob* "Oh the cross I bear being a Pacers fan ..." *whimper* "somebody hold me...".

I guess I should have posted this:

"I don't have any control over the product on the court, so the idea of me "forgiving" the team for past transgressions is moot."

I don't really want to give *any* of the remaining players and coaches a clean slate, let alone all of them.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

This was a hard and easy question. There is a lot from the last two seasons to let go of. BUT . . . . being the fan I am . . . 0-0 is a good start. I do, however, reserve the right to change my vote to moment I see some of the same crap from the past two seasons.

I choose to forgive, but will not forget.
Not exactly a clean slate, more like a suspended sentence with probation.

Yep. This is a new team. Donnie and Larry cleaned house of who they deem needed to leave and have earned my trust for another season.

Um....Are you serious? I'm going to go out on a limb and have to think that using that rationale, I can't see that they deemed Austin and AJ the problems with this team.

    Tell me you're joking. Seriously.

I saw no house cleaning. I saw the furniture get re-arranged and a few lamps get dusted.

    You are joking, right?
