Here's the scenario:
A person leaves a job for whatever reason. After a period, let's call it a period of mourning, lasting anywhere from a few hours or days to weeks, that person begins to get discredited. His name creeps into conversation, but he is disparaged, ridiculed, castigated, condemned, whatever, his name becomes mud.

Here's another. A person dies, again the period of mourning, perhaps taking longer this time, and then we talk about that person's faults, what he didn't do right, how his attitude and behavior affect us to this day and we don't like it, what he did wrong and why.

It is easier to find fault with a person when he's no longer there and cannot defend himself. I've run into this at least a dozen times. Shouldn't there be a name for it? Anybody else experience this?
